This slot machine is used not only in the Club game library, but also when holding various events in the city's schools, for example, festivals of technical creativity, scientific and educational games such as the television "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" to a question asked by the moderator.

The device is based on a circuit with mutual disconnection of the automation control circuits of other players. There are several options for solving the problem, in particular, using trinistors. However, Pavel Gureev and Kirill Shurygin decided to offer a variant on electromagnetic relays, which can be dismantled in large quantities from decommissioned equipment.

The device consists of the main unit (Fig. 3), in which electromagnetic relays K1-K5 are located, as well as connectors X1-X4 for connecting consoles playing with buttons SB1-SB4 and connector X5 of the host console.

Who quickly?

On the front panel of the unit there are signal lamps of the playing HL1-HL4, the HL5 "False start" lamp (Fig. 4), the HL6 "Victory" lamp, the HL9 lamp (Fig. 5) of the starting signal and the HL7, HL8 lamps of distracting signals (if desired, you can do without without them). A direct current source is used to power the main unit, signal lamp circuits can be powered both with direct current and alternating current, the voltage of which depends on the incandescent lamps used.

Who quickly?

As soon as the leader presses the SB5 "Start" button, relay K5 is activated and becomes self-locking through contacts K5.1, with contacts K5.2 it connects a signal lamp HL6 to one of the conductors of the power source, and with contacts K5.3 it lights the starting lamp HL9.

The task of each player now is to press the button of their remote control faster. If, for example, player number 3 manages to do this, relay K3 is activated, which self-locks with contacts K1.1, contacts K3.2 opens the power circuit of the relay of the rest of the players, and contacts K3.3 turns on the lamps HL3 and HL6. On the panel of the main unit, the backlight of the scoreboard with the player's number and the inscription "Victory" flashes.

If one of the participants accidentally presses the remote control button before the leader's command, the scoreboard of this player and the HL5 lamp will flash, highlighting the inscription "False start".

Lamps HL7, HL8 of distracting signals that complicate the task are controlled by a multivibrator (Fig. 6), the relay Kb of which alternately turns on one lamp after another with contacts K6.1.

Who quickly?

Relays - any with a response voltage of not more than 12 V. So, in one of the copies of the device, the RES22 relay was used, passport RF4.500.131P2. To power them, a transformer was wound on a magnetic circuit Ш16х18. The network winding contained 2800 turns of PEV-1 0,18 wire, the lower winding contained 140 turns of PEV-1 0,25 (a bridge rectifier was connected to it). If the relays turn out to be with a high voltage, you will naturally have to recalculate the transformer data.

To place the parts of the device, a case was used (Fig. 7) from an old electronic-keyboard calculating machine "Electronics-155".

Who quickly?

If, during the verification and adjustment of the device, contact bounce is observed during the operation of the relay, the relay windings should be shunted with oxide capacitors with a capacity of 10-15 microfarads.

Traffic noise delays the growth of chicks 06.05.2024

The sounds that surround us in modern cities are becoming increasingly piercing. However, few people think about how this noise affects the animal world, especially such delicate creatures as chicks that have not yet hatched from their eggs. Recent research is shedding light on this issue, indicating serious consequences for their development and survival. Scientists have found that exposure of zebra diamondback chicks to traffic noise can cause serious disruption to their development. Experiments have shown that noise pollution can significantly delay their hatching, and those chicks that do emerge face a number of health-promoting problems. The researchers also found that the negative effects of noise pollution extend into the adult birds. Reduced chances of reproduction and decreased fertility indicate the long-term effects that traffic noise has on wildlife. The study results highlight the need ... >>

A New Way to Control and Manipulate Optical Signals 05.05.2024

The modern world of science and technology is developing rapidly, and every day new methods and technologies appear that open up new prospects for us in various fields. One such innovation is the development by German scientists of a new way to control optical signals, which could lead to significant progress in the field of photonics. Recent research has allowed German scientists to create a tunable waveplate inside a fused silica waveguide. This method, based on the use of a liquid crystal layer, allows one to effectively change the polarization of light passing through a waveguide. This technological breakthrough opens up new prospects for the development of compact and efficient photonic devices capable of processing large volumes of data. The electro-optical control of polarization provided by the new method could provide the basis for a new class of integrated photonic devices. This opens up great opportunities for ... >>

Moving sidewalks for cities 25.11.2016

Travolators or moving sidewalks can hardly be called an innovation. The first "moving sidewalk" was shown back in 1893 in Chicago (USA) at the World's Columbian Exposition, and in 1900 it premiered at the World's Fair in Paris. Travelators were already seen as the transport of the future, and H.G. Wells used them to describe London in the 1890nd century in A Tale of the Days to Come and When the Sleeper Awakes, written in the XNUMXs.

Despite the optimism of a century ago and the development of technology, travelators have remained a niche vehicle used in airports, shopping centers, museums and zoos. The use of travelator as public transport is limited to underground metro stations in different cities of the world.

Recently, employees of the Federal Polytechnic School of Lausanne (Switzerland) again returned to the topic of the travelator as urban transport. Using a mathematical model, they showed that in medium-sized European cities, moving sidewalks were able to carry 7000 passengers per hour on each lane more efficiently than buses. As a model, the researchers took Geneva, completely devoid of cars, in which passengers use the metro, trams, taxis, bicycles or city funiculars.

It turned out that the most efficient configuration of a moving sidewalk in a city of this size is a small circle around the city center, in which there are no cars. The length of the sidewalk network of 47 links and 10 exits will be 32 km on the main roads. In addition, the system provides 37 intersections connecting "slow" travelators (speed up to 15 km / h) with high-speed "highways" using bridges and tunnels in order not to collide with conventional transport.
