Ivan da Marya is the popular name for several herbaceous plants, the flowers of which (or the upper parts of the whole plant) are distinguished by the presence of two sharply distinguishable colors, most often yellow and blue or purple.
The two most popular plants are:
Ivan da Marya, Maryannik, Brother and sister, Zheltyanitsa, Ivanova grass - Mariannik oakwood (Melampyrum nemorosum L.), herbaceous annual semi-parasitic plant from the Broomrape family (Orobanchaceae), with yellow flowers and bright blue bracts, that is, the upper leaves of the whole plant. Often grows in groves and meadows, more often in the shade, along forest edges; blooms at the end of June.
Pansies, or Violet tricolor (Viola tricolor L.) (its third color - white - is not taken into account) - in its wild form and in garden varieties.
Five or six more similar plants use this name much less often: Tenacious Geneva, or Shaggy tenacious, (Ajuga genevensis L.) with white fluffy bracts and blue flowers, Sage meadow (Salvia pratensis L.) - also with a contrast of dark blue flowers and gray-green bracts; sometimes they call it that Periwinkle (Vinca minor L.)

A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. The Italian company Lamborghini and the Houston Methodist Research Institute (USA) have entered into an agreement to jointly develop composite prostheses.
An Italian-American partnership will focus on the biocompatibility of advanced structural materials, which will eventually allow them to be used in implants and medical prostheses.
The Americans will share their developments in the field of nanotechnology and medical bioengineering in order to get the opportunity from the Italians to make implants and prostheses even lighter and stronger. For the production of prostheses, Lamborghini can use, for example, a forged composite, which is made of carbon fiber and epoxy, but according to a different technological process. First, the carbon fiber is divided into short lengths, which are distributed and filled with resin, and then crimped with special rollers.
Then the resulting sheet is cut along the desired contour and enters the mold, where it is baked for several minutes at a temperature of 135 ° C and a pressure of 80 bar. The result is a material with high mechanical strength and resistance to fatigue cracks. Lamborghini believes that the forged composite is quite useful not only for strong car bodies, but also for medical prostheses.
