Anthurium. Legends, myths, history

Anthurium

Anthurium is native to South and Central America.

Anthurium inflorescence is shaped like an ear and can vary in color: white, pink and yellow. The cob is surrounded by a luxurious coverlet of dark red, spotted or white heart-shaped color.

It has several other names: "flamingo flower", "piggy tail", "damn tongue". But in the people it is most often called precisely "male happiness." It is generally accepted that anthurium brings good luck and happiness to its owner.

The legend of anthurium says that a young beauty turned into this flower. It was in those days when people lived in tribes and they were ruled by a cruel and bloodthirsty leader. He decided to marry one beauty. However, she did not like the cruel ruler, and she refused him. Because of her rebelliousness, the cruel ruler attacked the village in which the girl lived, and by force brought her to him. On the day of the wedding, a bonfire was lit.

The young beauty could not imagine life without her relatives, with a cruel leader. In a red wedding dress, she threw herself into the fire. But the gods had mercy on her. And before she had time to fall into the fire, she turned into a red anthurium flower, as graceful as the young beauty was. And the gods turned the whole village into a dense, impenetrable tropical forest.

Drops of moisture, continuously flowing down the leaves of trees and grasses, are the tears of inconsolable relatives who have not come to terms with the loss of their daughter. And the beauty herself, turned into an anthurium, blooms annually, delighting everyone with her beauty.

Anthurium

By the way, in some tropical regions there are so many anthuriums that they even settle on telegraph wires and roofs of dwellings, while they also manage to bloom.

Anthurium has a positive effect on timid people who would rather step aside than demonstrate their skills, as well as those whose mind prevails over feelings. Anthurium well redistributes energy in the room.

cultivated and wild plants. Legends, myths, symbolism, description, cultivation, methods of application

Anthurium (Anthurium) - a beautiful houseplant with attractive bright flowers that are shaped like a heart or a spatula.

Tips for growing, harvesting and storing anthurium:

Cultivation:

  • Lighting: Anthuriums prefer bright but diffused light. They must be protected from direct sunlight, so choose a location with partial or diffuse light.
  • Soil: Anthuriums prefer well-drained soils with a pH of 5,5-6,5. They also prefer soil rich in organic matter.
  • Planting: Anthuriums should be planted in the ground or in pots with a drainage system to ensure good ventilation of the roots. The distance between plants should be about 30-40 cm.
  • Care: Anthuriums need regular watering and humidification. Plants should be fed with organic and mineral fertilizers to ensure their growth and flowering. Wilted flowers and foliage should also be pruned regularly to keep the plant looking beautiful.

Preparation and storage:

  • Preparation: Anthuriums can continue to bloom for several months. Cut off the stem above the narrow leaf-shaped blade. If you want to keep blooming, then it is best to remove the yellowed flowers and leave blooming.
  • Storage: Anthuriums are not stored, as a rule, in a cut form, but are grown as houseplants. They grow best in medium humidity and temperature conditions.

Energy from space for Starship 08.05.2024

Producing solar energy in space is becoming more feasible with the advent of new technologies and the development of space programs. The head of the startup Virtus Solis shared his vision of using SpaceX's Starship to create orbital power plants capable of powering the Earth. Startup Virtus Solis has unveiled an ambitious project to create orbital power plants using SpaceX's Starship. This idea could significantly change the field of solar energy production, making it more accessible and cheaper. The core of the startup's plan is to reduce the cost of launching satellites into space using Starship. This technological breakthrough is expected to make solar energy production in space more competitive with traditional energy sources. Virtual Solis plans to build large photovoltaic panels in orbit, using Starship to deliver the necessary equipment. However, one of the key challenges ... >>

New method for creating powerful batteries 08.05.2024

With the development of technology and the expanding use of electronics, the issue of creating efficient and safe energy sources is becoming increasingly urgent. Researchers at the University of Queensland have unveiled a new approach to creating high-power zinc-based batteries that could change the landscape of the energy industry. One of the main problems with traditional water-based rechargeable batteries was their low voltage, which limited their use in modern devices. But thanks to a new method developed by scientists, this drawback has been successfully overcome. As part of their research, scientists turned to a special organic compound - catechol. It turned out to be an important component that can improve battery stability and increase its efficiency. This approach has led to a significant increase in the voltage of zinc-ion batteries, making them more competitive. According to scientists, such batteries have several advantages. They have b ... >>

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

The conductivity of the crystal is increased by 400 times 23.11.2013

Scientists accidentally discovered that the electrical conductivity of a crystal increases 400 times if it is exposed to light - using this effect, physicists can significantly increase the capacity and speed of storage devices; the results of the study were published in the journal Physical Review Letters.

Marianne Tarun of the University of Washington and her colleagues conducted a study on strontium titanate. As they worked, they noticed that its electrical conductivity suddenly increased. At first they could not understand what was the matter, and only then found out that the electrical conductivity increased when the crystals were exposed to light.

Then the scientists conducted an experiment: they left the crystals under bright light for 10 minutes, and then removed them into the dark. It turned out that the effect of increasing electrical conductivity lasts for several days - the researchers explain this by the fact that light releases electrons in the material, allowing them to carry more electrical current.

This ability, the so-called residual photoconductivity, has nothing to do with superconductivity - the complete absence of electrical resistance, which physicists can achieve only at temperatures close to absolute zero - Tarun and her colleagues found their effect under normal conditions.

"The appearance of this effect at room temperature opens up new possibilities. In standard computer memory, information is accumulated on the surface of chips or hard drives, and in devices using residual photoconductivity, information can be stored in the entire crystal," said Matthew McCluskey, co-author of the study, whose words are quoted in a message from the university.

This approach has been called holographic memory and is considered a potential replacement for high-capacity data technologies. So, if now on magnetic and optical media data is recorded in one or two layers, then in holographic memory they will be recorded over the entire volume of the device, and the speed of writing and reading information will increase.
