Chistets (stakhsis, Chinese artichoke)

Synonym: S. tuberifera Ndn. Khorogi.

Names: fr. stachys tubereux, crosne du Japon, epiaire achapelets; English Chinese or Japanese, artischoke; German Knollenziest, Japanesische Artisdhoke; Swede. Japansk jordartskocha; Japanese choro-gi.

This tuber is common in cultivation in China and Japan.

The plant is perennial, with branched rectangular in cross section and pubescent stem, 25-40 cm in height.

The leaves are opposite, long-petiolate, pubescent, heart-shaped at the base. Flowers sessile, branching from one node in the amount of 4-6. (The plant produces many ivory beaded tubers.) Chistets is cultivated and consumed in a similar way to potatoes.

Propagated by tubers. According to Vilmorin, a yield of 5 kg was obtained from 6-450 kg of tubers.

In England and Northern Europe, sometimes they eat thickened rhizomes of the marsh chisel - S. palustris L. This is a perennial plant, 60-110 cm in height, with a creeping tuberous rhizome thickened at the end; stems simple, rarely branched, densely pubescent, rough.

Chistets (stakhsis, Chinese artichoke)

The lower leaves are lanceolate or oblong, sharp, rounded or shallowly heart-shaped at the base, finely serrate-toothed, 8-12 cm long and 1,5-3,5 cm wide. The upper bracts are ovate-lanceolate, entire, long-pointed. The lower leaves are short-petiolate, the upper ones are stalked. The calyx is distinctly two-lipped, protruding glandular-hairy. Corolla purple or purple-lilac. Seeds are naked nuts.

It grows wild in humid places in Europe, Siberia, the Caucasus, and Central Asia.

Edible tuberous formations are used as vegetables. They are eaten boiled, fried and pickled. The plant is widely cultivated in Southeast Asia, China, Japan, Belgium and France.

In the United States, S. floridana Shuttleworth is found, with tuberous rhizomes resembling those of the marsh weed. Used similarly to S. palustris.

cultivated and wild plants. Legends, myths, symbolism, description, cultivation, methods of application

Chistets, also known as stachys, Chinese artichoke, or Japanese artichoke (Stachys affinis), is a perennial plant native to Asia. Its tubers have a sweet taste and can be used in cooking.

Tips for growing, harvesting and storing a cleaner:

Cultivation:

  • Chistets is best grown in full sun and well-drained soil.
  • It is recommended to sow chistcha seeds in early spring or late autumn.
  • The plant needs regular watering and can be fertilized with organic and mineral fertilizers.

Workpiece:

  • Chiste tubers can be harvested when they reach maturity, usually in early autumn.
  • Tubers should be peeled and washed before consumption. They can be used in cooking, added to salads, grilled and boiled.

Storage:

  • Fresh tubers should be stored in a cool and dry place where they can last up to several months.

The existence of an entropy rule for quantum entanglement has been proven 09.05.2024

Quantum mechanics continues to amaze us with its mysterious phenomena and unexpected discoveries. Recently, Bartosz Regula from the RIKEN Center for Quantum Computing and Ludovico Lamy from the University of Amsterdam presented a new discovery that concerns quantum entanglement and its relation to entropy. Quantum entanglement plays an important role in modern quantum information science and technology. However, the complexity of its structure makes understanding and managing it challenging. Regulus and Lamy's discovery shows that quantum entanglement follows an entropy rule similar to that for classical systems. This discovery opens new perspectives in the field of quantum information science and technology, deepening our understanding of quantum entanglement and its connection to thermodynamics. The results of the study indicate the possibility of reversibility of entanglement transformations, which could greatly simplify their use in various quantum technologies. Opening a new rule ... >>

Electric car charges in 30 minutes 04.05.2013

Siemens and Volvo have teamed up to find a solution to the problem of long battery charging times in electric vehicles. They have already developed a number of related technologies, thanks to one of which it takes a maximum of an hour and a half to replenish the charge.

Everything is implemented in the form of a special 22-kilowatt charger, which is currently being tested on the Volvo C30 Electric electric car. This, we note, is the first on-board charger in the world that operates from a 3-phase current source. By connecting to the appropriate outlet, this charger will accumulate energy in the battery in an hour and a half, which is enough for 165 kilometers. And for an 80 percent charge, just half an hour is enough.

This is indeed a significant breakthrough as 99% of electric vehicles have to be tethered to a power outlet for 8 hours in order for their battery to be fully charged. The German company Siemens, which helped Volvo develop a new charger, at the same time upgraded the electric motor of the C30 Electric car - now it produces 120 hp. power at a torque of 250 Nm. The maximum speed of the car is 125 km / h, and acceleration to hundreds takes only 5,9 seconds.

Manufacturers installed the new charger directly under the hood, bringing the plug hole into the radiator grille and, thus, fitting it as harmoniously as possible into the design of a production car. The compact Volvo C30 Electric hatchback, despite having a 24-kilowatt battery pack, has a fairly spacious interior. Together with the battery, the mass of which was 330 kilograms, the car weighs 1725 kg. Its cost after completion of Siemens is not specified.
