Mediterranean species, common in the south of Europe, in the Caucasus, in Asia Minor and Western Asia in the north-west of Kazakhstan.

Essential oil was found in the aerial part, up to 28% fatty oil in the seeds.

The roots were used for food, as was the tuberous gooseberry.

The aerial part was used in folk medicine for anemia, hypoacid gastritis, pneumonia, bronchitis, pulmonary tuberculosis, malaria, hemorrhoids, edema, and hypertension.

It has been established that the infusion of the aerial part increases blood clotting, has a hypotensive effect. It is part of the collection according to the prescription of M. N. Zdrenko, recommended for bladder papillomatosis, anacid gastritis and gastric ulcer.

Decorative plant. Good honey plant, gives a lot of nectar.

Prickly prickly pear (Phlomis pungens) is a perennial plant of the Lamiaceae family. Its flowers are collected in racemose inflorescences, and the leaves are rich green and covered with small spines. The prickly prickly pear is commonly grown to decorate gardens, parks, and landscapes.

Tips for growing, harvesting and storing prickly prickly pear:

Cultivation:

  • The prickly prickly plant prefers sunny places and tolerates partial shade.
  • It grows well in fertile soils, however, it can also grow on poor soils.
  • Propagated best by cuttings or seeds. The cuttings are planted in spring or autumn, and the seeds are collected in August-September and sown in the ground immediately after harvest.

Preparation and storage:

  • The leaves of the prickly prickly pear are collected during the flowering of the plant, when they contain the greatest amount of essential oils.
  • The leaves are cut in the morning, after the dew has dried, and air-dried in the shade or in a room with good ventilation.
  • Prickly pear leaves can be used fresh or dried. Store them in dry, cool and dark places in paper bags or glass jars.

Despite some of the beneficial properties of prickly gooseberry, it should be borne in mind that eating this plant can cause allergic reactions, and if the recommended dose is exceeded, toxic effects. Therefore, before using herbal preparations from prickly prickly prickly, it is necessary to consult a doctor.

Energy from space for Starship 08.05.2024

Producing solar energy in space is becoming more feasible with the advent of new technologies and the development of space programs. The head of the startup Virtus Solis shared his vision of using SpaceX's Starship to create orbital power plants capable of powering the Earth. Startup Virtus Solis has unveiled an ambitious project to create orbital power plants using SpaceX's Starship. This idea could significantly change the field of solar energy production, making it more accessible and cheaper. The core of the startup's plan is to reduce the cost of launching satellites into space using Starship. This technological breakthrough is expected to make solar energy production in space more competitive with traditional energy sources. Virtual Solis plans to build large photovoltaic panels in orbit, using Starship to deliver the necessary equipment. However, one of the key challenges ... >>

New method for creating powerful batteries 08.05.2024

With the development of technology and the expanding use of electronics, the issue of creating efficient and safe energy sources is becoming increasingly urgent. Researchers at the University of Queensland have unveiled a new approach to creating high-power zinc-based batteries that could change the landscape of the energy industry. One of the main problems with traditional water-based rechargeable batteries was their low voltage, which limited their use in modern devices. But thanks to a new method developed by scientists, this drawback has been successfully overcome. As part of their research, scientists turned to a special organic compound - catechol. It turned out to be an important component that can improve battery stability and increase its efficiency. This approach has led to a significant increase in the voltage of zinc-ion batteries, making them more competitive. According to scientists, such batteries have several advantages. They have b ... >>

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

prominence model 03.08.2000

A model of solar prominences has been implemented at the Department of Applied Physics of the California Institute of Technology (USA).

Prominences are plasma - a hot gas of free electrons and positive ions. For a long time it was not known why these emissions of the solar atmosphere take such a variety of forms. It is now believed that the shape, size and speed of prominences (and they sometimes reach the Earth) are determined by the interaction of magnetic fields and electric currents in a conducting plasma.

Physicists have simulated the development of a prominence by passing a current of about 6000 volts and a force of up to 60 kiloamperes through the plasma in a vacuum chamber, simultaneously applying a magnetic field that is several thousand times more intense than the Earth's magnetic field.
