This generator can be used in grain stores, basements, sheds and other areas where small rodents (mice, rats, hamsters, etc.) are uninvited guests. The diagram of the device is shown in the figure. It consists of a low frequency modulator (DD1.1. DD1.2, C1, C2, R1), an ultrasonic frequency oscillator (DD1.3, DD1.4, C4, R3. R4), a power amplifier based on transistors VT1 - VT3 and sound emitter BA1.

With the values of the elements indicated in the diagram, the generator emits bursts of pulses of 15 ... 40 kHz (regulated by a variable resistor R4) with a repetition rate equal to the frequency of the modulating generator (2 ... 10 Hz, set by a variable resistor R2).

When using the device, it must be borne in mind that the intense radiation of ultrasonic and infrasonic vibrations adversely affects the nervous system of humans and pets. A long stay in a room with a running generator can cause headaches and other discomfort, so it is recommended to turn on the device immediately before leaving the room.

With a long-term operation of the generator with the same frequency ratings, rodents can adapt, therefore, it is necessary to change the radiation parameters 2-3 times a week with variable resistors R2 and R4.

The proposed device can also serve as a signaling device when outsiders enter the room. To do this, the SF1 sensor (one or more) should be installed on doors and windows in such a way that the contacts close in case of unwanted intrusion. In this case, capacitor C4 is also connected in parallel with capacitor C3 - the generation frequency of the second generator is shifted to the region of audio frequencies (1000 ... 2000 Hz) and the sound emitter acts as a siren,

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

The hygroscopicity of hyaluronic acid is exaggerated 20.03.2024

The myth that hyaluronic acid can hold 1000 times its own weight in water has been exaggerated. However, this does not detract from its usefulness for the skin and body tissues, since it has other valuable properties, such as antioxidant effects and stimulation of cell regeneration.

Hyaluronic acid, an essential element for the body's cells and tissues, has become known for its skin-improving and inter-articular lubrication properties. However, advertising claims of its ability to hold 1000 times its own weight in water have been questioned.

American scientists conducted an experiment, creating a solution with hyaluronic acid and water in a ratio of 1:1000. The results showed that the solution did not change its behavior when heated, contrary to marketing promises.

However, the experiment was only performed with medium-sized molecules, so the conclusions can be considered limited to products with such molecules. Perhaps the use of larger molecules would have led to different results.

In addition, hyaluronic acid not only has the ability to retain water, but also has antioxidant properties, promotes cell regeneration and stimulates collagen production. Research shows that products with different sizes of hyaluronic acid molecules and a minimum concentration of 0,1% are better for the skin, since small molecules penetrate the skin better and larger molecules retain more water.
