Dicentra, Dicentra. Description, illustrations of the plant

Dicentra. Legends, myths, history

Dicenter

Dicentra flowers are very peculiar: a pair of outer dark pink petals, opening slightly, as if showing a pair of inner light-colored ones. The corolla is heart-shaped, which is why the flower is called "broken heart".

This is what the French legend about the plant is: love elevates people, illuminates them with happiness, bestows joy, and sometimes hurts and breaks the heart.

The young Frenchwoman Jeannette went to the forest for berries and got lost, She will go to the right - the forest stands as a wall; move to the left - a high hedge of thickets blocks the road. The girl was frightened and began to call for help.

- Kind people! Jeannette screamed. - Show me the way... Don't leave me in trouble, help me!..

She prayed and called for a long time, but only an echo echoed in the distance, and the crowns of the trees with deep sighs sympathized with grief.

Wandering through the thickets, Jeannette became exhausted, sank down on a snag and dozed off. She didn’t know how long she slept, but she woke up because someone licked her on the cheek. The girl shuddered, opened her eyes and saw a hunting dog, and nearby a young rider dismounted.

- Sit in the saddle! the young man invites. “And don’t delay, otherwise we won’t get out of the thicket until dawn.”

How long, how short their horse was carrying, Jeannette did not remember, she only remembered how tightly the young man held her in warm embraces ... And when they were near the outskirts, the young man took the girl off the saddle and passionately kissed her goodbye. The first kiss was firmly remembered by Jeannette, the next day she had a desire to see the young man again, but the young man did not appear. He did not appear either on the third or on the fourth day. On the fifth day, a rich cavalcade rode through the village, in front on a thin-legged horse flaunted a horseman familiar to Jeannette, and next to him was a happy blond girl ... Jeannette swayed, blood hit her face, and her heart unexpectedly sprouted dark red flowers.

Since then, the French call it "Zhannette's heart", the Germans - "the flower of the heart", and the Russians, mindful of unrequited love - "a broken heart".

Dicentra - "broken heart" - was brought to Europe in 1816 from Japan and as an early-flowering spring plant has found widespread distribution.

In Germany, there was a belief: if a girl plucks a dicentra and puts it in her bosom, then, returning home, she will certainly meet her future groom. And if a guy with such a flower meets a girl he likes, she will definitely become his bride.

The dicentra blooms from late May to early August, but even after flowering its beautiful foliage persists until frost. A bouquet of dicentra, placed in a vase, retains freshness for a long time, bringing a joyful mood to the room.

cultivated and wild plants. Legends, myths, symbolism, description, cultivation, methods of application

Dicentra is a genus of plants of the poppy family, including several species, such as large-flowered dicentra and graceful dicentra. These plants have beautiful, elegant flowers, so they are often used in landscape design and landscaping.

Tips for growing, harvesting and storing dicentra:

Cultivation:

  • Dicentra prefers shade or partial shade, but can also grow in full sun in cool climates.
  • The soil should be moist and well-drained.
  • Reproduction is carried out by seeds or by dividing the bush in spring or autumn.
  • The plant needs regular watering, especially in hot weather.
  • During the flowering period, wilted flowers should be removed to promote the formation of new buds.

Preparation and storage:

  • Dicentric flowers can be used to create bouquets, but should be used fresh as they will fade quickly.
  • If you need to keep the flowers for a longer period, you can use drying or freezing. When drying, the flowers should be hung in a dark and cool place to avoid mildew and keep the color vibrant. When freezing, the flowers should be placed on a piece of paper and placed in the freezer.
  • Dicentra is poisonous, so you should pay special attention when working with it and keep it out of the reach of children.

Energy from space for Starship 08.05.2024

Producing solar energy in space is becoming more feasible with the advent of new technologies and the development of space programs. The head of the startup Virtus Solis shared his vision of using SpaceX's Starship to create orbital power plants capable of powering the Earth. Startup Virtus Solis has unveiled an ambitious project to create orbital power plants using SpaceX's Starship. This idea could significantly change the field of solar energy production, making it more accessible and cheaper. The core of the startup's plan is to reduce the cost of launching satellites into space using Starship. This technological breakthrough is expected to make solar energy production in space more competitive with traditional energy sources. Virtual Solis plans to build large photovoltaic panels in orbit, using Starship to deliver the necessary equipment. However, one of the key challenges ... >>

New method for creating powerful batteries 08.05.2024

With the development of technology and the expanding use of electronics, the issue of creating efficient and safe energy sources is becoming increasingly urgent. Researchers at the University of Queensland have unveiled a new approach to creating high-power zinc-based batteries that could change the landscape of the energy industry. One of the main problems with traditional water-based rechargeable batteries was their low voltage, which limited their use in modern devices. But thanks to a new method developed by scientists, this drawback has been successfully overcome. As part of their research, scientists turned to a special organic compound - catechol. It turned out to be an important component that can improve battery stability and increase its efficiency. This approach has led to a significant increase in the voltage of zinc-ion batteries, making them more competitive. According to scientists, such batteries have several advantages. They have b ... >>

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

Autonomous X-ray machine with artificial intelligence 08.04.2022

Lithuanian company Oxipit, a developer of artificial intelligence (AI) medical imaging applications, has received CE Class IIb certification for ChestLink. This imaging tool independently reads chest x-rays without the participation of a radiologist and reports the results. It is the first regulatory-approved AI medical imaging application that performs diagnostics autonomously, the developer said.

ChestLink scans chest X-rays and automatically sends out reports of those patients it considers to be completely healthy. Any images that the tool flags as having a potential problem are sent to the radiologist for review. This will help reduce the workload for radiologists.

The Oxipit AI is now CE Class IIb certified by the EU, which certifies that the device meets safety standards. Certification is similar to US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval. But there are differences: getting the CE mark is easier, faster. Does not require as thorough an assessment as FDA approval.

The FDA reviews whether a device is safe and effective and will usually ask device manufacturers for more information.
