Cough may have different causes - neurotic, allergic, infectious, traumatic, etc. By the nature of the cough and the accompanying symptom, it can be assumed that it caused it.

If the baby has normal temperature and well-being, and the cough does not prevent the child from eating, playing and sleeping, but happens at those moments when he is worried or upset about something, then most likely the cause of the cough is purely psychological.

If the cough starts suddenly, attacks, wakes the child at night, persistently persists, then this is an infectious disease.

If you think your child has something in his throat and coughing makes it difficult for him to breathe, it could be an allergy or a foreign object in his airway. Call an ambulance immediately!

When urgent care is needed

With a noisy and wheezing cough, when the child has difficulty breathing. This may be a false croup, which is dangerous for suffocation.

If the cough is accompanied by fever, palpitations, apathy and vomiting, yellow-green sputum is produced.

First aid

1. With a persistent, bothersome cough, pat the child on the back on both sides at least 10 times in a row, 4 times a day. This helps clear the airways of mucus. The doctor can determine those places where the most mucus that interferes with normal breathing accumulates.

2. Ventilate the room well. Allergens or irritants in the air in a child's bedroom can cause or worsen a cough caused by an infection.

3. Stick to the rule:

ATTENTION!

Never smoke in the house or in the car in the presence of the baby. This can give him an allergic cough.

4. Before giving antitussive medicine, correctly determine the nature of the cough. It's better if the doctor does it.

5. If the cough is persistent and exhausting, without sputum production, give the child cough suppressants - suppressants.

6. Dry cough requires the use of expectorants or mixtures.

7. If coughing attacks occur frequently and bother the child throughout the day, combine expectorants with suppressants: give medicines half an hour before bedtime and then every 4-6 hours if the child wakes up from coughing.

home remedies for cough

Wash the radish and scrape out an indentation with a knife 1/3 of the height of the radish. Pour in 2 tbsp. spoons of liquid honey. Place the radish upright in a bowl or cup and cover with thick paper. After a few hours, juice will appear in the recess. Give his child 1 teaspoon 3-4 times a day before meals and at bedtime.

Cut the radish into very thin slices and sprinkle each slice generously with sugar. Leave for 6 hours. The resulting juice take 1 tbsp. spoon every hour (with a strong cough).

Pour water over a small lemon and boil it over low heat for 10 minutes. Cool, then cut the lemon in half and squeeze the juice out of it. Add 2 tbsp to lemon juice. tablespoons of glycerin, pour honey into a glass to the brim and mix it all thoroughly. Take 1 teaspoon 3 times a day before meals and at night.

For infants: add 1 tbsp to 2 teaspoon of honey. spoons of anise seeds and a pinch of table salt, pour 1 glass of water, boil over low heat for 10 minutes and strain. Give 1 teaspoon every 2 hours. Decrease the dose of the mixture as the cough subsides.

Mix sugar with resin (pine sap) in equal proportions, roll the mixture into pea-sized balls and dry them. Take (suck) 1 scoop 3 times a day after meals.

Mash ripe bananas and put them in a pot of hot water in proportions: 2 bananas to 1 glass of water with sugar; warm up, drink this mixture.

Rub the child's chest with a dry cloth, then rub the interior lard or melted butter dry. A small amount (1 part to 4 parts of lard) of pine oil, which is considered better than cow's oil, should be added to the lard.

Mix equal parts of rye, oats and barley, add chicory and 2 g of ground bitter almonds and let the child drink like ordinary coffee, with hot baked milk.

Use coltsfoot infusion as a mild diaphoretic and expectorant. Brew 1-10 g of herbs with 15 cup of boiling water, leave for 30 minutes and strain. Drink 1/3 cup 3 times a day.

Give your child a decoction of primrose roots as an expectorant. Brew 1 tbsp. a spoon (with a top) of the roots 500 ml of boiling water, keep on low heat for 20 minutes, leave for 1 hour and strain. You need to drink 1/2 cup 3-4 times a day.

Mix 1 cup turnip juice with 1 tbsp. spoon of honey, hold on fire until boiling and immediately remove from heat. Let your child drink 3 sips 3-4 times a day 30 minutes before meals.

Traffic noise delays the growth of chicks 06.05.2024

The sounds that surround us in modern cities are becoming increasingly piercing. However, few people think about how this noise affects the animal world, especially such delicate creatures as chicks that have not yet hatched from their eggs. Recent research is shedding light on this issue, indicating serious consequences for their development and survival. Scientists have found that exposure of zebra diamondback chicks to traffic noise can cause serious disruption to their development. Experiments have shown that noise pollution can significantly delay their hatching, and those chicks that do emerge face a number of health-promoting problems. The researchers also found that the negative effects of noise pollution extend into the adult birds. Reduced chances of reproduction and decreased fertility indicate the long-term effects that traffic noise has on wildlife. The study results highlight the need ... >>

quantum spin liquid 20.12.2021

A new exotic state of matter, the possibility of whose existence was theoretically justified more than 50 years ago, was obtained in laboratory conditions for the first time in history. Created by researchers at Harvard University, this material is called quantum spin liquid, and its further study and use will create a number of new technologies that can have a great impact on the further development of quantum computing and communications.

In order for any material to have magnetic properties, it is required that the rotation of the electrons of the atoms of this material be aligned in one direction. Slightly different types of magnetism can be observed when the rotation of electrons in a material alternates like checkerboard cells, however, such materials still have exotic magnetic properties due to the orderliness of the electron spins.

In 1973, the American physicist Philip Anderson (Philip Anderson) put forward a hypothesis about the possibility of the existence of a state of matter called a quantum spin liquid, which does not obey the rules described just above. Such a liquid arises when matter is cooled to such a state when it does not yet turn into a solid body and the electrons do not occupy a strictly specified position and, as a result, do not align their spins in one direction. Instead, the spins of the electrons are in constant motion, they all get entangled with each other, forming a very complex single quantum state.

To create a quantum spin fluid, the Harvard researchers used the so-called quantum simulator, something like a primitive quantum computer focused on solving only one single problem. The basis of this simulator is 219 atoms located in the nodes of the grid of an optical trap created using laser beams. In addition, with the help of the light of additional lasers, it is possible to control each of the atoms, changing the direction of the spin of its electron.

Scientists arranged the atoms in a trap in the form of a lattice, in the environment of which each of the atoms has two nearest neighbors. A pair of electrons can stabilize and equalize their spins, but the presence of an electron from a third neighboring atom upsets the balance, creating what scientists call a "broken magnet," a magnet that is unable to stabilize on its own.

And as a result, all these atoms formed a certain amount of quantum spin liquid, which has several useful quantum properties. First, the atoms of the liquid are in an entangled state, they can influence each other even at a great distance, which can be used to teleport quantum information. The second property is that all the atoms of the liquid are in a state of superposition, i.e. their electrons can rotate in two directions at once. Both of these properties are the main "quirks" of quantum mechanics that are used today to create quantum computers.
