Reanimation - a set of measures to restore lost or fading functions of vital organs and systems (respiration and cardiovascular activity) in terminal conditions - preagony, agony, clinical death. As the condition worsens, the signs of the activity of the leading systems of the body (pulse, blood pressure, reflexes) gradually weaken and fade away, until they completely disappear during clinical death. The duration of clinical death is 4-6 minutes, then irreversible changes occur in the brain. The causes of terminal states, as a rule, are electrical injuries, drowning, shock, heart injuries, myocardial infarction.

The sequence of resuscitation:

  • stop the damaging factor;
  • lay the patient on his back on a hard, unbending bed, put a roller under his shoulders;
  • inflict an atrial blow to the region of the middle third with a fist;
  • at the same time, after 2-3 breaths, start an indirect heart massage by rhythmically pressing with the palmar surfaces of two straightened arms folded one hand over the other at a point located on the border between the middle and lower thirds of the sternum, with an amplitude of up to 5 cm, using body weight;
  • start artificial ventilation of the lungs with a frequency of 15 breaths per minute using the mouth-to-mouth, mouth-to-nose method (if air supply through the mouth is not possible).
The ratio between artificial ventilation of the lungs and heart massage in terms of the number of movements is 1:5 if resuscitation is carried out by two rescuers, and 2:15 if one. The effectiveness of resuscitation increases if it is carried out in the first 2-2,5 minutes after the onset of clinical death, as well as using a number of additional techniques - constant pressure with a fist in the navel and raising the lower limbs above the body.

When drowning, before resuscitation, water is very quickly removed from the lungs, placing the patient with his stomach on the bent knee of the caregiver.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Tibet to build gravitational wave detector 19.01.2017

Scientists at the National Astronomical Observatory of China are already developing the first telescope to detect gravitational waves, which will be called Ngari-1. It will be installed 30 kilometers south of the village of Shiquanhe in the Tibetan district of Ngari. The detector will be located at an altitude of 5250 meters above sea level.

After the commissioning of the first telescope, which is scheduled for 2021, it will observe and collect accurate data on gravitational waves in the Earth's Northern Hemisphere. After that, the construction of the Ngari-2 telescope will begin as part of the second phase of the project. The construction budget is estimated by the Chinese at US$19 million.

The main task that the Chinese government has set before scientists is to adapt the world's highest observatories for effective space exploration. The project will also involve employees of the Shanghai Institute of Microsystems and Information Technology, as well as the Institute of High Energy Physics.

The Chinese Academy of Sciences intends to attract external specialists to study gravitational waves, offering them an annual salary of about 153 thousand US dollars. The detection of gravitational waves by the detectors of the LIGO gravitational observatory was one of the major events in the history of science.
