In recent years, there has been an increase in the number poisoning for different reasons. Poisoning occurs when a toxic substance enters the body.

The first place is occupied by food poisoning by nitrate vegetables, fruits (treated with pesticides during their cultivation in order to protect against pests - codling moth, aphids, whiteflies, etc.), products with GMOs (genetically modified formations), alcoholic beverages (beer, moonshine, etc.) , drinking water (boiled and unfiltered), mushrooms collected in the forest, etc.

Poison is any substance that, when ingested, causes poisoning, disease, or death.

Symptoms of poisoning are:

1) nausea, vomiting, diarrhea;

2) pain in the chest or abdomen;

3) respiratory failure;

4) sweating;

5) increased salivation;

6) loss of consciousness;

7) muscle twitches;

8) convulsions;

9) burns around the lips, on the tongue or on the skin;

10) the skin may have an unnatural color, be irritated, have wounds, spots;

11) change in the behavior of the victim (incoherent speech), etc.

The issues of food security in Russia have been repeatedly considered at a high government level. In the late 1990s A draft law "On the food security of the Russian Federation" was developed, the authors of which argued that food security is a necessary condition not only for the preservation of statehood, but also for the physical survival of the population.

For example, food imports from the United States are maintained at the level of 15-17%, and the requirements for imported food products are very high and strict, control is carried out constant and deep in all respects: the content of nitrates, GMOs, radioactive elements, etc.

As Russian experts have established, from the wrong combination of food and fluid intake, contamination and poisoning of the large intestine, liver, kidneys, and connective tissue of the body occur, which are unable to completely neutralize and remove unnecessary substances and toxins. This leads to an overload of toxins in the lungs, nasopharynx, skin and other organs. Numerous pathogenic microbes, penetrating the human body, find ideal conditions for reproduction in places of accumulation of harmful and unnecessary substances and subsequently cause various diseases. That is why people should take care that their body is clean not only from the outside, but also from the inside, so that it clogs as little as possible and is constantly freed from toxins and other toxic substances.

There are many ways to cleanse the body. Most of them come down to cleaning procedures, restoring the functions of the large intestine, liver, kidneys, joints, etc. This is done by combining various methods of cleansing the body (such as enemas, fasting, special diets, the use of choleretic and diuretic drugs, the use of heat, various exercises). The success of such procedures, as a rule, is achieved only with the complete rejection of stimulants (tea, coffee, tobacco, alcohol).

If we take into account the data of ecologists, then the water that Russians use for drinking and cooking every day, in many areas, and especially in large cities, is unsuitable for these purposes without preliminary treatment. Banal boiling of water destroys only harmful microorganisms (causative agents of intestinal infections), and the chemical composition remains the same - with the presence of phenol, chlorine, heavy metals. As a result of boiling water, the concentration of harmful substances increases. If drinking water is boiled in a heat-resistant vessel or in a simple aluminum vessel until completely evaporated, then its previously invisible contents can be seen at the bottom of the vessel, and spectral analysis will give the chemical composition of the precipitate obtained from evaporation.

This quality of drinking water is associated with the unfavorable environmental situation in many regions of Russia and with the deterioration of equipment in the treatment systems of industrial enterprises that discharge their wastewater into rivers and reservoirs. In addition, the water supply systems in many large cities of Russia are very worn out, which is why drinking water, when transported through pipes to consumer taps, reaches consumers in a form and quality that is practically unsuitable for food needs. The use of household filters to purify incoming drinking water to kitchen taps is simply necessary to avoid a whole "bouquet" of diseases - from gastrointestinal to cardiovascular and articular.

In the last decade, the negative factors of the environmental situation in Russia have reached, according to environmental experts, catastrophic proportions (for example, 70% of the Russian population (more than 100 million people) live in a territory with a polluted atmosphere, where the content of potent toxic substances is 5-10 MPC). At the same time, the constant pollution of the atmosphere by industrial emissions leads to the formation of acid rain, which falls over various water bodies, including those from where water is taken for drinking needs of the population. The same rains with a set of harmful chemicals water our fields, gardens, orchards, thereby adding toxic, carcinogenic and other substances undesirable to the human body through vegetables, fruits and grain crops. To all of the above, the unreasonable use of pesticides, herbicides and mineral fertilizers is added. As a result, the human body is "pumped up" with toxins, toxins, all kinds of radicals. This is followed by a decrease in the immunobiological defense of the body.

Reduced immunity is expressed in a decrease in life expectancy. Thus, in 1997, life expectancy averaged 62 years, and then there was a decrease in this indicator. As a result, very sad, about 1000 children die per 18 children born (in a number of civilized countries this figure is 37 children), and for several years there has been no natural population growth in Russia, the death rate exceeded the birth rate by 1,5 times. This situation is "corrected" by the immigration of Russians from the former republics of the USSR: Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and the Baltic countries.

But the problem of food safety remains. In addition to all of the above, in recent years a new danger has arisen in the problem of nutrition - this is the flow of food products and all kinds of food additives to food products based on genetically modified formations that have poured into Russia. Examples are soy, starch, aspartame (widely used as a sugar substitute in the production of soft drinks, drinks, confectionery). Genetically modified soybeans and starch are constantly used in the production of sausages and other food products.

Another very dangerous genetically modified product is yeast, which is not found in a "wild", natural form. This yeast (GMO) is widely used in the food industry - alcohol, brewing and baking. Scientists in Canada and England, as well as the French scientist Professor Etienne Wolf, in the course of research work with "cultural yeast" found that regular consumption of fermentation products - beer, alcoholic beverages, bakery products obtained using this yeast, leads to a "chronic tendency to "to infectious diseases up to cancer, reduces the body's resistance, increases susceptibility to ionization (from computers, copiers, etc.), to the effects of vibration, carcinogens and other factors that destroy the human body; contributes to rapid mental and physical fatigue, and this is always regarded as the first step towards illness. Another specific example that confirms all of the above is the fact that out of 100 young conscripts, only 10 are recognized as fit to serve in the army.

This is not surprising, because the body of children and adolescents is 50 times more sensitive to the negative effects of food than an adult. Therefore, cases of food poisoning among children and adolescents have recently become more frequent.

The total number of food poisoning among the population of Russia has also increased, including cases with a fatal outcome. It is quite obvious that the increase in mortality in Russia in recent years is due to the influence of the deteriorating environmental situation in general, and the uncontrolled consumption of food products with GMOs in particular.

In this regard, the United States takes the above problems of life safety very seriously. For example, many Americans at home, using all sorts of special tools, control the content of nitrates and other harmful substances in food, carefully study information about the content of components in products before making a purchase.

The result of the scrupulous attitude of Americans to the conditions of safe life is obvious - the life expectancy of an average American is 14-15 years longer than that of a Russian.

In Ayurveda (Sanskrit - "science of life" - the medical science of Ancient India, dating back more than 5000 years, indicating ways to preserve health and prolong life) and in Tibetan medicine, a number of strict rules are observed regarding food and nutrition, for example, it is strictly indicated that through 3 hours after cooking, food becomes poisonous.

And the famous scientist of the Ancient World Hippocrates wrote and said to his students: "A person is born healthy, but all diseases come with food" (and this was at a time when nature had not yet been spoiled by man!).

Prevention of food poisoning

1. When buying food and drinks, you need to carefully study the information on the packages about the contained components (ingredients).

2. Large sizes of vegetables and fruits indicate the presence of nitrates.

3. In no case should you use products with an expired shelf life.

4. Have 3-4 packs of activated charcoal in your first aid kit.

Poisoning can also be caused by various chemicals, including washing powders, i.e. household chemicals, when using them in everyday life.

Measures to prevent poisoning in the home:

1) household chemicals, even if it is ordinary washing powder or soda, must be stored separately from any food products, out of the reach of children;

2) each bottle or box must have a label;

3) before using any product, you must carefully read all the recommendations (especially carefully when working with pesticides);

4) liquid substances (chemicals) should be poured, always using a funnel, and loose ones should be poured with a spoon;

5) it is necessary to protect the eyes from splashes or fine powder (washing powder too);

6) the funnel or spoon after use should be washed and dried;

7) to carry out all work with pesticides in special clothing (robe, apron, overalls), wear rubber gloves;

8) it is recommended to use safety glasses;

9) wash work clothes after work;

10) the remaining pesticides cannot be poured into a lake, river or at home into a sink, they must be buried in the ground, in a place remote from housing;

11) when treating the premises with chemicals (dichlorvos, chlorophos), food products, pets and birds, aquariums must be removed from it;

12) in case of poisoning with household chemicals, you must immediately call a doctor (ambulance).

In case of carbon monoxide poisoning or car exhaust, you should:

1) isolate the victim from exposure to gas;

2) remove the victim to fresh air;

3) call an ambulance and help the victim take a comfortable position before it arrives;

4) monitor the signs of life (breathing);

5) when breathing stops, be ready to carry out artificial ventilation of the lungs.

Innovative battery will last for decades 12.05.2014

Scientists from the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) at the US Department of Energy were able to increase by 26% the capacity of a battery consisting of three main elements - anode, cathode and electrolyte. When used in electrical appliances with low energy consumption, such a battery can last 30-50 years.

The created battery belongs to the type "lithium carbon monofluoride" (Lithium Carbon Monofluoride, Li/CFx). Such batteries are often used in the military and aerospace industries, pacemakers and various electronics.

A team of researchers led by Chengdu Liang believes that the new invention will significantly extend the battery life of various low-power sensors. Scientists say that such devices can work autonomously for decades.

In practice, this means that it will be possible to implant, for example, a pacemaker for 30-50 years. To date, such devices serve for 10 years, after which the patient has to undergo another operation in order to replace the pacemaker with a dead battery.

The idea of development is to use the principle of electrolyte dual purpose. For many years it was believed that the role of electrolyte in a battery is only one - the transfer of ions from electrode to electrode. However, researchers from ORNL were able to prove that the electrolyte may have another function - working in tandem with the cathode in order to provide improved battery properties.

According to Chengdu Liang, thanks to the emergence of a dual-purpose electrolyte, today it is possible to design batteries with electrical density that was previously inaccessible.

The scientists used a solid electrolyte of lithium thiophosphate as the ion transport medium. "As the battery we developed develops, a lithium fluoride salt is produced. Thanks to it, the electrochemical activity of the electrolyte increases. The electrolyte connected to the cathode turns from an inactive capacitive battery cell into an active one," explains Chendu Liang.
