Safe Operation

1. General requirements for labor protection

1.1. Steam sterilizers are allowed to be operated by persons not younger than 18 years old, trained and certified in the prescribed manner, who have passed a medical examination and briefing at the workplace, who have a certificate for the right to perform this type of work, who have 1 electrical safety group.

1.2. The personnel must comply with the internal labor regulations, fire safety rules and this manual.

1.3. Personnel must comply with electrical safety requirements when working with pressure vessels.

1.4. When operating sterilizers, personnel should wear the following PPE:

  • cotton robe;
  • cotton gloves;
  • goggles.

1.5. During the operation of steam sterilizers, dangerous, production factors are:

  • high pressure;
  • electricity;
  • heat;
  • humid environment.

1.6. By order of the institution, a person responsible for the safe operation of sterilizers must be appointed.

1.7. Carrying out work not related to the operation or repair of sterilizers is prohibited.

1.8. Keeping foreign objects in the sterilization room is prohibited.

1.9. Unauthorized persons are not allowed to enter the sterilization room.

1.10. When using the sterilizer, it is prohibited:

  • operate the sterilizer with a faulty or unadjusted safety valve;
  • leave the sterilizer unattended in working order;
  • add water to the sterilizer through a funnel when there is pressure in the sterilizer;
  • open the lid of the sterilizer in the presence of pressure;
  • repair parts and mechanisms of the sterilizer in the presence of pressure;
  • repair the electrical part of the sterilizer under voltage;
  • operate the sterilizer with a faulty electrical contact pressure gauge and pressure vacuum gauge, as well as after their expiration date;
  • operate the sterilizer without grounding.

2. Labor protection requirements before starting work

2.1. Put on the appropriate overalls, safety shoes.

2.2. Inspect the workplace, free it from foreign, combustible materials

2.3. Check the presence and serviceability of grounding, safety valves, pressure gauges, blocking devices.

2.4. Inspect the fastening of the cover or doors of the sterilization chamber.

2.5. Verify:

  • the condition of the pressure gauge (checking in the laboratory of the State Standard, the presence of a red line on the scale of the pressure gauge, the arrow landing on zero);
  • operation of the safety valve;
  • integrity of the gauge glass.

3. Labor protection requirements during work

3.1. Sterilizer personnel are prohibited from:

  • supply steam to the sterilizer when the lids are not fully fixed;
  • turn on the sterilizer when the water level in the steam generator tank is insufficient;
  • open the lid of the sterilizer or loosen its fastening in case of excessive pressure in the sterilizer;
  • work on a sterilizer that has defects that reduce its strength and stability;
  • add water to the steam generator tank when it is under pressure;
  • work on the sterilizer after the expiration of the G.I. and pressure gauge checks;
  • leave the sterilizer unattended during its operation.

3.2. Load the sterilization boxes with the material to be sterilized. The effectiveness of sterilization depends on the packing density.

3.2. Close the cover and tighten it with clamps.

3.3. Turn on the power switch.

3.4. Set the pressure in the sterilization chamber to 0,1 - 0,2 kg/cm10. Air is expelled from the sterilization chamber for XNUMX minutes.

3.5. Sterilization in the sterilizer is carried out with saturated water steam with a temperature of 132 degrees, for 20 minutes. At a temperature of 120 degrees for 45 minutes.

3.6. At the beginning of sterilization, it is recommended to slightly open a special valve for 1 seconds 2-30 times to expel condensate from the sterilization chamber, which contributes to better steam penetration for better sterilization.

3.7. Opening the door of the sterilizer when sterilizing any solutions in it is allowed no earlier than 30 minutes after the end of sterilization

3.8. Prepared materials for sterilization must be affixed with a tag indicating the contents and the date of sterilization.

3.9. After each completed sterilization cycle, personnel must ensure that the required sterilization temperature has been reached during the sterilization of the objects loaded into the chamber.

3.10. When carrying out the following sterilization cycles, it is necessary to check the presence of water on the glass of the water indicator column and, if its level is above the lower mark and on the water indicator glass above the lower mark and on the water indicator column (at least 3 cm), you can not add water, but proceed to the next cycle sterilization. Otherwise, water must be added.

3.11. To fill the sterilizer with water, it is necessary to disconnect the sterilizer from the mains, release steam from the chambers,

3.12. If, during sterilization, the water level sensor turns off the electric heaters and the “no water” lamp lights up on the electrical panel, turn off the sterilizer, release steam from the sterilizer, fill with water.

3.13. When operating the sterilizer, personnel must observe:

  • cleanliness and good condition of all parts of the sterilizer;
  • prevent water from entering the electrical panel and electrical contact thermometer;
  • daily after finishing work, drain the water from the steam chamber.

4. Labor protection requirements in emergency situations

4.1. The sterilizer must be stopped in the following cases:

  • if the pressure in the sterilizer has risen above the permitted level, despite compliance with all requirements for the regime and safe maintenance of vessels;
  • in case of malfunction of safety valves;
  • upon detection of cracks, bulges, gaps in welds in the elements of the sterilizer;
  • in the event of a fire;
  • when the liquid level drops below the permissible level;
  • in case of malfunction of the cover parts;
  • in the event of a malfunction of the locking devices.

5. Labor protection requirements at the end of work

5.1. After completing the work, it is necessary to turn off the power supply and make sure that there is no pressure in it.

5.2. All shortcomings and malfunctions found during operation, the personnel must make an appropriate entry in the maintenance log and report to the person responsible for the safe operation of the sterilizer.
