Fire safety requirements

The instruction is an addition to the instruction on fire safety measures for the entire enterprise.

1. Technological equipment of workshops, heating devices and electrical equipment must be cleaned of wood chips and other combustible materials at least once a shift, and building structures and electric switches - at least once every two weeks.

2. To remove waste, woodworking machines must be equipped with local suction. The operation of machines with the ventilation and pneumatic transport systems turned on is prohibited.

3. Dust chambers and cyclones must be kept closed at all times. Wood waste collected in them must be removed in a timely manner. It is impossible to allow overloading of cyclones and pollution with production wastes of the territory at their locations.

4. During the operation of oil-filled equipment, measures must be taken to exclude the possibility of leakage and spillage of oil and impregnation of wooden structures with it.

5. It is necessary to strictly observe the timing of lubrication of rubbing parts of equipment and bearings. These times must be specified in the workshop instructions. When the temperature of the bearings rises above 45-50°C, the equipment must be stopped to find out and eliminate the causes of overheating.

6. Warming up the glue should be done with steam or electrical appliances. For this purpose, it is recommended to use the safest electrical appliances with water heating. Glue cookers should be located in an isolated room or in another safe place designated for this purpose. Adhesives based on synthetic resins and flammable solvents should be stored in fireproof pantries or metal boxes.

7. When drying wood in petrolatum, it is heated in jars to a temperature of 120-140 ° C. The tank must be filled with petrolatum in such a way that when a package of wood is lowered into it, the liquid level in the tank rises by no more than 60 cm to the upper edge of the tank (to avoid liquid overflow). To reduce the foaming of petrolatum, it is not recommended to lower wood covered with ice or snow into it.

8. The premises where petrolatum bathtubs are installed are equipped with supply and exhaust ventilation, and an umbrella with an exhaust pipe is mounted above the bathtub.

9. When drying wood with high-frequency currents in dryers, the electrodes must be in good condition and good resistance to wood must be provided to avoid sparking. The doors of the drying chamber with this method of drying are blocked with a device for supplying voltage to the electrodes: control and regulation of the temperature in the dryers is carried out by automatic devices.

10. Timber dryers must be equipped with stationary steam extinguishing installations and deluge systems.

11. In woodworking shops it is prohibited:

store lumber in an amount exceeding the shift requirement;
leave uncleaned finished products, shavings, sawdust, wood dust, oil, flammable liquids and materials, as well as energized electrical installations at the end of work;
Timber entering the warehouse is stacked according to pre-developed technological maps, which must be agreed with the fire department.

12. When stacking and unstacking stacks and lumber, packages prepared for shipment should be installed only on one side of the working line.

13. Free access to the stacks of timber and semi-finished products must be provided. For fire-fighting purposes, it is not allowed to store timber and equipment between stacks.
