3.3. Monitor the correct operation of the light and sound alarm.

3.4. At any time away from the sawmill, it is necessary to stop the electric motor.

3.5. Workers serving the sawmill are prohibited from:

  • independently repair electrical equipment;
  • clean, adjust and repair sawmill mechanisms during operation;
  • allow other persons who do not have the appropriate rights to cut logs;
  • to remove guards during work;
  • work with malfunctions;
  • work without gloves and goggles.

3.6. On four rolling sawmill frames, sawing logs no shorter than 3 m is allowed.

For sawing short-length logs, additional rollers or other devices must be installed to prevent tossing of the sawn logs.

Sawing of logs shorter than 1,5 m should be carried out only on special eight rolling frames. Sawing ridges and beams shorter than 0,8 m is not allowed.

3.7. The movement of the clamping trolleys must be carried out by means of a drive installed on the trolley itself.

3.8. The device for feeding logs to sawmill frames must have automatic stops and must be equipped with mechanical log ejectors.

3.9. The log storage area must be fenced with a barrier; the log feeding device, ejector mechanism, and log senders must be controlled remotely from the framer’s workplace.

3.10. Logs with cross cuts, rot, as well as frozen and icy logs should not be sawed on sawmill frames.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Resurrection of the heart after death 15.09.2015

Transmedics has developed a system that can revive human organs removed from the body for transplantation. Even if the stopped heart is connected to the system after 20 minutes, it can beat again.

The so-called "Internal Care System" works by keeping the heart in a sterile chamber. Humidity and temperature of the chamber are controlled to be identical to the conditions inside the human body. The heart is connected to the donor's blood supply, which the machine fills with oxygen and nutrients. As a result, the heart remains alive and continues to beat. The same system can be used to save the lungs, kidneys and liver. The device costs $250.

From the point of view of a transplantologist, a heart can be removed from the donor's body only if his brain is dead, but the body itself is still alive. In the case of circulatory death, when the heart fails first, such an organ is no longer suitable for transplantation due to the rapid death of cardiomyocytes. The new device allows to increase the number of transplanted hearts from 15 to 30%, and it has already performed 15 successful operations in Europe and Australia, while the system is still undergoing clinical trials in the USA.

Interestingly, with the help of this device, as the experience of doctors from the Large Hospital near Cambridge showed, it is possible to revive a stopped heart directly in the body of an already deceased person, but it is impossible to keep the heartbeat without the drug. The results of the experiments have not yet been published. Of course, this invention and system raises a lot of controversy regarding medical ethics. In particular, the question arises, can a person be considered dead if it is possible to resurrect his heart, even if it does not work without outside help?
