OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH
Instructions for labor protection when soldering products containing lead Occupational Safety and Health / Standard instructions for labor protection Safe Operation 1. General requirements for labor protection 1.1. Soldering work with products containing lead is allowed for persons who are at least 18 years old, who have passed a medical commission and have no contraindications for working with such products, who have been trained and tested by the commission of the enterprise, who have been instructed at the workplace. 1.2. Soldering of small items with alloys containing lead is carried out at a temperature of + 180-350°C manually using an electric soldering iron, on machines of various designs, by dipping (tinning) and wave soldering. 1.3. Lead alloys of various grades are used for the soldering operation. The most common grades are POS-40 (40% tin and 60% lead) and POS-60 (60% tin and 40% lead). As a flux, rosin or rosin with stearin is used. 1.4. The soldering process may be accompanied by air pollution with lead aerosols. Lead contamination of work surfaces and the skin of workers' hands may also occur. 1.5. Soldering personnel should be provided with overalls and other PPE, in accordance with industry standards. 1.6. For workers performing soldering work, the composition of special household premises and their arrangement should be taken in accordance with SNiP II-MZ-68. 1.7. Storage of street, home and work clothes in dressing rooms should be separate. 1.8. In addition to the washroom, washbasins should also be provided in rooms or areas designated for smoking, eating rooms and production areas. Wash basins must have an uninterrupted supply of hot and cold water during all shifts during which soldering is performed. 1.9. At washbasins, regardless of their location, tanks with a 1% solution of acetic acid for preliminary washing of hands and easily washed portable containers for cleaning material should be provided. 1.10. Drinking water for workers and soldering areas should be supplied through fountains, which should be installed outside the soldering areas, but close to them. 1.11. Soldering work must be carried out by workers in overalls provided for this purpose. 1.12. Storage of any kind of overalls in the premises where soldering is carried out, as well as personal belongings of employees, is prohibited. It is also forbidden to take work clothes home. 1.13. Entrance to the dining room, buffets, dining rooms is prohibited. 1.14. It is necessary to change and hand over overalls for washing at least once a week. Washing of such overalls should be carried out separately from other overalls. 1.15. Eating, storing, smoking in the premises where soldering is carried out is prohibited. 1.16. Before eating and smoking, be sure to wash your hands and rinse your mouth. 2. Labor protection requirements before starting work 2.1. Put on the prescribed overalls, shoes and prepare other PPE. 2.2. Check the instrument for proper operation. 2.3. Free the passages, the workplace from foreign objects. 2.4. Turn on the supply and exhaust ventilation and make sure that it is working properly (by the signal lamps on the control panel). 3. Labor protection requirements during work 3.1. It is advisable to build the process technology in such a way that soldering operations are maximally concentrated on the site. 3.2. Areas where soldering is mainly carried out should be allocated to separate rooms. In the case of carrying out soldering work on a production line when alternating them with other work operations, the production rooms in which they are located should be considered as rooms allocated for soldering. 3.3. Finishing of premises, as well as air ducts, communications, heating appliances, should allow them to be cleaned from dust and periodically washed. The joints of the walls between themselves, with the ceiling and the floor should be rounded; walls, window frames, heaters, air ducts must be smooth and covered with light-colored oil paints; floors should also be sloped towards sewer drains. 3.4. In the soldering room, it is necessary to install cabinets with washing tanks for washing some types of working equipment, such as containers for lead alloys and fluxes, containers for carrying products coated with lead alloys, brushes, etc. 3.5. In the case of high-quality soldering machines, the latter must be fully or partially shielded in accordance with the requirements of sanitary norms and rules when working with sources of electromagnetic fields, high, ultra-high and ultra-high frequency No. 848-70 of March 30, 1970Mr. 3.6. Separate work tables, conveyor or other equipment intended for soldering operations on it should be of the simplest possible design, allowing them to be easily cleaned and thoroughly cleaned. 3.7. Products moving along the conveyor should be fixed in holders or special devices, which, if necessary, could be rotated when performing soldering work. Small parts should be moved along the conveyor in a special container that excludes its contamination. 3.8. The work surfaces of tables or equipment, as well as the surfaces of tool boxes, should be covered with a smooth, easy-to-clean material. The inner surface of the boxes should be painted with oil paint. 3.9. Consumable alloys and fluxes should be placed in a container that excludes contamination of working surfaces with lead. 3.10. Workplaces should be provided with tweezers or other special tools designed to move alloy products, ensuring safety during soldering. 3.11. Monitor the operation of the supply and exhaust ventilation so that the speed of air movement to the soldering points is within 0,6 m / s. 3.12. The internal surfaces of the air ducts of exhaust systems and fans should be periodically cleaned from flux, lead contamination. 3.13. Soldering irons that are in working condition must always be in the area of exhaust ventilation. Soldering machines must be structurally provided with aspiration devices. 3.14. The rooms in which soldering areas are located must be provided with fresh air supplied evenly in an amount equal to 90% of the exhaust volume. Air mobility should be no more than 0,3 m/sec. The missing 10% of the supply air must be supplied to adjacent, cleaner rooms. 3.15. The use of air recirculation in soldering rooms is not allowed. 4. Labor protection requirements in emergency situations 4.1. In the event of accidents or situations at the site that can lead to accidents and accidents, suspend work, remove people from the danger zone, disconnect the equipment used in the work from the mains, take measures to eliminate the accident, inform the work manager. 4.2. In case of fire or fire, immediately inform the fire department by phone 01, notify the work manager and start extinguishing the fire with primary fire extinguishing equipment. 4.3. In case of lead aerosol poisoning (headache, nausea, dizziness), the victim must be taken to a warm, well-ventilated area and given warm milk to drink. Call an ambulance. In case of loss of consciousness, give ammonia to sniff. It is advisable to lay the victim in a horizontal position until the arrival of an ambulance. 5. Labor protection requirements at the end of work 5.1. Used napkins and rags that may be contaminated with lead should be burned after work is completed. They are not allowed to be reused. 5.2. The working surfaces of tables, tool boxes and containers used at workplaces must be cleaned and washed with hot soapy water at the end of work. 5.3. After the end of each work shift, it is mandatory to wash the floors with a 1% solution of vinegar. 5.4. Take off your overalls and put them in the work clothes storage cabinet. Take a shower.
