Safe Operation

1. General requirements for labor protection

1.1. Persons who have passed a medical examination and have no contraindications to work in this profession (specialty), introductory instruction and instruction at the workplace are allowed to work on roll offset printing machines. Workers are allowed to work independently after an internship, verification of theoretical knowledge and acquired skills in safe ways of working. In the future, at the workplace, briefings on labor protection are held at least once every 3 months.

1.2. When transferring to a new job, from temporary to permanent, from one operation to another with a change in the technological process or equipment, employees must be instructed in labor protection at the workplace.

1.3. Conducting all types of briefings must be recorded in the Briefing Log with the obligatory signatures of the person who received and conducted the briefing.

1.4. Each employee is obliged to comply with the requirements of this instruction, labor and production discipline, work and rest regime, all requirements for labor protection, safe work performance, industrial sanitation, fire safety, electrical safety.

1.5. Smoking is allowed only in specially designated areas. The use of alcoholic beverages at work, as well as going to work in a state of alcoholic or drug intoxication, is prohibited.

1.6. When performing work, it is necessary to be attentive, not to be distracted by extraneous affairs and conversations, and not to distract others from work. It is forbidden to sit down and lean on random objects and fences.

1.7. It is not allowed to approach operating machines, installations, machines on which other workers work, and distract them with extraneous conversations, turn on or off (except in emergency cases) equipment, transport and lifting mechanisms, work on which is not assigned, go beyond the fences of hazardous areas, in the zones of technological passages.

1.8. The employer is obliged to provide workers with overalls, safety shoes, as well as personal protective equipment in accordance with the work they perform and in accordance with applicable standards. It is forbidden to work without overalls, safety shoes and other personal protective equipment laid down in accordance with the standards.

1.9. Each employee needs:

  • know the place of storage of the workshop first-aid kit;
  • be able to provide first aid for work-related injuries.

1.10. It is allowed to store and eat food only in established and equipped places.

1.11. It is forbidden to be in production premises in outerwear, undress or hang clothes, hats, bags on equipment.

1.12. Do not clutter up passages, driveways, workplaces, approaches to shields with fire fighting equipment, fire hydrants and a general switch.

1.13. Spilled cleaners, lubricants, water, etc. on the floor. wipe off immediately.

1.14. Cleaning materials impregnated with oil, paint, solvent, put in tightly closed metal boxes. Do not scatter these materials, at the end of the shift they should be removed from the premises.

1.15. Store fuels, lubricants and flammable liquids only in a tightly closed metal container (box) or cabinet in an amount not exceeding the replacement rate. Joint storage of acids and flammable and combustible liquids (gasoline, toluene, alcohol, kerosene, white spirit, etc.) is prohibited. Store chemicals in quantities not exceeding the established norms, in a tightly closed container with an inscription on the contents.

1.16. It is forbidden to repair equipment, fix electrical equipment and the electrical network to personnel who do not have access to these works, work near unshielded current-carrying parts, touch electrical wires, general lighting fittings, open doors of electrical cabinets, fencing of knife switches, switchboards and control panels.

1.17. Do not use lubricants for washing hands.

1.18. It is forbidden to be in the production room after the end of work.

1.19. The employee is responsible in accordance with applicable law for compliance with the requirements of instructions, industrial injuries and accidents that occurred through his fault.

1.20. The control of the implementation of this instruction is assigned to the head of the department.

2. Safety requirements before starting work

2.1. Put on your uniform, put it in order.

2.2. Familiarize yourself with the entries in the Journal of the technical condition of the equipment. In case of any comments, do not start work until the troubleshooting and a note in the Journal (adjuster, electrician) about the health of the equipment.

2.3. Inspect equipment and work area. Prepare the necessary devices and tools for work, check their serviceability.

2.4. Check the serviceability of the machine, including, switching off and braking devices, the presence and strength of fastening of fences, the reliability of the functioning of safety devices, interlocks, the presence of protective grounding, cleanliness and order at the workplace. Remove unnecessary items from the equipment (oil cans, rags, etc.).

2.5. Check the tightness of the UV unit, make sure that all inlet and outlet openings of the fan are closed with ventilation fittings or special protective nets and access to rotating parts is restricted. Clean the parts of the emitter from plaque, moisten the UV lamps with alcohol. It is forbidden to turn on UV lamps that have been waterlogged with alcohol, to start the IST UV unit without cleaning the parts of the emitter from plaque.

2.6. Check whether the local exhaust and general supply and exhaust ventilation systems are turned on; it should be remembered that ventilation should be turned on for 10 - 15 minutes. before starting work.

2.7. Check and adjust workplace lighting.

2.8. Immediately inform the supervisor of the noticed shortcomings and malfunctions at the workplace and do not start work until the troubleshooting and permission of the master.

3. Safety requirements during work

3.1. Perform only the work assigned by the head.

3.2. It is forbidden to allow persons who are not related to the assigned work to the workplace, to entrust the equipment to another person.

3.3. When repairing equipment, carrying out preventive maintenance, it is necessary to make an entry in the Journal of the technical condition of the equipment. Persons who carried out repairs and preventive maintenance are required to make an entry in the Journal allowing them to work.

3.4. Finished products should be stacked carefully, on racks (the height of the foot from the floor should not exceed 1,6 m).

3.5. Before putting the machine into operation, check whether any of the operating or maintenance personnel are in the danger zone of the machine.

3.6. Before starting the machine, give a warning signal. Then, pressing the "slow speed" button, make several revolutions of the machine and, making sure that it is in full working order, turn it on to the working stroke, gradually adding speed.

3.7. Prepare the machine for operation with the general introductory switch off and the signal lamp on.

3.8. Starting the machine on a working stroke, printing, installing and removing printing plates, rubber, as well as all auxiliary work (cleaning, adjusting, lubricating, etc.) must be carried out with the permission of the foreman of the printers.

3.9. Wear cotton gloves when installing the die-cutting shirt.

3.10. Adjustment of knives on cutting section is carried out outside the printing machine.

3.11. Only remove and insert the inking and dampening rollers when the triggers are turned off and the safety lock is locked.

3.12. When disassembling and assembling inking and dampening devices, the necks of the rollers and cylinders must be wiped dry.

3.13. The inking and dampening rollers must be removed and installed simultaneously by two workers with coordinated efforts.

3.14. Install rollers only in special pyramids or on a special trolley with nests.

3.15. When changing the deckle, it is obligatory to “lock” the machine at your workplace with the “stop” locking button. Only the person who has prohibited the start of the machine has the right to remove the start prohibition.

3.16. It is forbidden:

  • turn on the machine with a lit signal lamp, without the permission of the foreman-printer, without a signal warning about the start of the machine;
  • work with guards removed;
  • work on faulty equipment;
  • work without sufficient lighting of the workplace;
  • place the rollers vertically or obliquely to the machine frame, wall, tables;
  • use form plates with torn, sharp edges and burrs (before installing the form plates into the clamping strips, the edges of the plate must be cleaned);
  • use leaded gasoline, acetone, benzene, toluene, turpentine to wash forms and colorful rollers;
  • leave keys, screwdrivers, oilers, rags and other items near the car and on the fences;
  • simultaneously wash off rubber sheets in two or more printing sections;
  • keep your hands on the cylinders when adjusting molds, installing and removing rubber while cleaning the machine stand on rotating parts;
  • stand on the fences of cars and lean on them, touch the moving parts of the car;
  • leave unattended the machine, included in the working stroke;
  • roll a roll on a nearby worker;
  • step on floor transport carts;
  • leave bushings and stall in the workplace. They should be folded in a specially designated place;
  • clean and maintain printer heads without exhaust ventilation and grounding terminals;
  • look at a glowing UV lamp, keep your hands in the zone of its glow;
  • use the UV lamp for other purposes;
  • use in flexographic printing with IR-drying inks based on volatile solvents;
  • storage and storage near the machine of any solvents in the open;
  • independently alter or change the safety circuits of the IST UV installation;
  • drain paint and liquids into the sewer;
  • work with the UV unit when the air-exhausting equipment is turned off;
  • allow detergents to come into contact with the UV system;
  • open the doors of the Alpha system to release solvent vapors;
  • touch cutting and chopping knives;
  • touch the moving paper web;
  • carry out flushing and adjustment work during the movement of the web;
  • allow the machine to be cluttered with semi-finished products, finished products, racks and other foreign objects.

3.17. It is forbidden to use defective hand tools, as well as tools of inappropriate sizes, to scatter them around the equipment, in aisles, in driveways. Store fixtures and tools in designated areas.

3.18. It is forbidden to leave combustible liquids and flammable liquids in the aisles, driveways and working areas of the equipment.

3.19. When the printing sections of the machine are coupled, the fitting of forms, the installation of rubbers, the washing of the printing cylinders, the repair, adjustment and lubrication of individual units should be carried out simultaneously at only one workplace and always with the machine turned off, locked with the stop button. The use of the "push" button during these works is allowed only to the person carrying out the work. After each push, lock the machine with the stop button. Only the one who forbade the start of the machine has the right to lift the ban.

3.20. When processing forms, use swabs made of cotton wool or rags without dangling ends.

3.21. When passing paper, give clear commands "stop", "forward", taking all precautions to prevent the capture of fingers and overalls by rollers, corrugated rolling pins, rubber rollers, etc.

3.22. In case of elimination of paper jam in the wiring circuit, all operations must be carried out with the "stop" button closed.

3.23. Disable screened roller rotation when guiding paper through the flexo unit.

3.24. Turn off the electric drive of the roller star only after the roll is well fixed in the star with cones.

3.25. When rolling the roll from the conveyor trolley, stand at the end of the roll.

3.26. When the siren sounds before starting the machine, the crew members must immediately stop all work in the dangerous areas of the machine and ensure that there are no unauthorized persons on the machine.

3.27. When moving along the ladders to the tiers of the machine, you must hold on to the railing with your hands, while being careful.

3.28. Before working with form plates, file their edges to remove burrs. Wear gloves when carrying offset plates.

3.29. Ensure that all manhole covers on and around the machine are closed at all times.

3.30. Before cleaning the machine, turn it off on the control panel and the "stop" buttons on the workplaces. Make sure all rotating parts have stopped.

3.31. Remove cores with paper residues weighing more than 30 kg only with two people using special stands.

3.32. Keep the workplace clean, remove foreign objects in a timely manner and wipe spilled paints, oil, etc. from the floor.

4. Safety requirements in emergency situations

4.1. In case of fire, immediately turn off the equipment, turn off the power supply, with the exception of the lighting network. Report the fire to everyone working in the room and proceed to extinguish the fire with the available fire extinguishing equipment.

4.2. If voltage (sensation of current) is detected on the metal parts of the equipment, the electric motor hums while working, the ground wire is broken, immediately turn off the equipment, report to the foreman about the malfunction of the electrical equipment and do not start work without his instructions.

4.3. Disconnect the equipment from the mains, stop working and notify the workshop administration in case of a malfunction of the equipment, safety, protective, blocking, signaling devices, material ingress into the UV dryer, as well as if there is a smell of burning and smoke in electrical equipment, if foreign objects or bad fixing the printing form, inking and dampening apparatus.

4.4. In the event of a power outage and vibration or excessive noise, turn off the equipment.

4.5. In case of injury, it is necessary first of all to free the victim from the traumatic factor, call for medical assistance, provide first aid to the victim, notify the work manager and save the traumatic situation until the causes of the incident are investigated.

5. Safety requirements at the end of work

5.1. Stop the equipment, turn off the general introductory switch, clean and tidy the workplace, make an entry in the Journal of the technical condition of the equipment.

5.2. Take off your clothes and put them in the closet.

5.3. Wash face and hands with warm water and soap.
