Full document Occupational Safety and Health / Standard instructions for labor protection Safe Operation 1. General requirements for labor protection 1.1. General safety requirements are set out in the Instruction "General safety requirements for professions and types of work in furniture production". 1.2. Dangerous and harmful production factors 1.2.1. Moving machines and mechanisms, moving parts of production equipment; moving products, blanks, materials. Sources of the factor: glue rollers, closing plates of a hydraulic press, loading device, brush machine. Effect of the factor: the possibility of contact of hands with moving and rotating parts of equipment. 1.2.2. Increased dust and gas content in the air of the working area. The source of the factor: harmful substances in the air of the working area. Action factor: the possibility of poisoning, disease. 1.2.3. Increased or decreased temperature of the surfaces of equipment, materials. Sources: hot press plates, pipelines. Effect of the factor: the possibility of getting a burn in contact with press plates, pipelines, etc. 1.2.4. Dangerous chemical and harmful industrial factors that penetrate the human body through the respiratory system, skin and mucous membranes. Sources: adhesives. Action: the eyes, skin of the hands, face and other parts of the body may be affected by irritating substances contained in adhesives. 1.3. Personal protective equipment: cotton apron, cotton suit; combined mittens. 2. Safety requirements before starting work 2.1. Remove foreign objects from the loading belt and make sure that there are no foreign objects in the working space of the press. 2.2. Check the serviceability of the thermal insulation of steam distribution columns, pipeline enclosures, flexible and rigid steam-conducting tubes. 2.3. Make sure that the lifting mechanism of the loading table and pusher are in good condition; control and measuring instruments; cylinders and loading and unloading device of the press; dosing device; glue rollers; locking device for gluing rollers. The gluing rollers are covered with grilles with limit switches interlocked with the line starting device. 2.4. Check the proper operation of local suction and supply and exhaust ventilation. Local suction pumps are interlocked with line equipment starting devices so that the equipment is switched off when the suction pumps stop working. Places of possible release of harmful fumes (glue-spreading rollers, package forming workplace) have shelters equipped with local suction. At the cladding site there are holding chambers for panel parts, equipped with local suction. It is allowed to keep the lined parts under shelters equipped with local suction. 2.5. Lubricate hands with protective paste or cream. 3. Safety requirements during work 3.1. Monitor the condition of equipment and the readings of instrumentation. 3.2. Glue must be supplied to the glue rollers through pipelines or in closed containers if the consumption per shift does not exceed 150 kg. 3.3. Loading and unloading of panels after pressing is carried out mechanically. 3.4. Check whether the cuffs sealing the cylinders are leaking oil, and whether there is steam in the pipes. 3.5. Monitor the serviceability of blocking devices: lifting table, glue roller guard, brush machine, single-bay press. 3.6. In case of a sudden sharp increase in steam pressure against that provided by the regime, strong steaming, sudden power outage, ventilation, turn off the line equipment. 4. Safety requirements in emergency situations 4.1. Turn off equipment. 4.2. Post a table about the malfunction of the machine or equipment and report this to the direct management. 4.3. In the event of a fire or extinguishing a flame, use a nearby fire extinguisher. 4.4. The victim or bystander must notify the appropriate work manager of each accident or poisoning. 4.5. The worker must be able to provide first aid. Such assistance is provided immediately, directly at the scene and in the following sequence: first you need to eliminate the energy source of injury (switch off the engine, stop the mechanism, remove the victim from under the car, a heavy object, etc.). Assistance should begin with the most significant that threatens life or health (in case of severe bleeding, apply a tourniquet, and then bandage the wound; if a closed fracture is suspected, apply a splint; with open fractures, first bandage the wound and then apply a splint; in case of burns, apply a dry bandage ; in case of frostbite, gently rub the affected area using soft or fluffy tissues). If spinal injury is suspected, transport the victim only in the supine position on a rigid base. 4.6. After providing first aid, the victim should be sent to the nearest medical facility. 5. Safety requirements at the end of work 5.1. Turn off equipment. Wait for it to come to a complete stop. Tidy up the workplace: remove tools, fixtures; clean the machine from dirt and dust; wipe and lubricate the rubbing parts of the machine; neatly fold the finished parts and the remaining material. 5.2. Cleaning of wood waste (sawdust, shavings, dust) from the surface of the equipment, as well as from overalls, is carried out with a brush, sweep or using vacuum cleaners. It is unacceptable to blow the machine and clothes with compressed air. 5.3. Rags used during work and when cleaning, put the rags in a special metal box with a closing lid and take it outside the workshop to a specially designated place. 5.4. Wash hands with warm water and soap. 5.5. Report all noticed shortcomings in the operation of the equipment to the shift worker or foreman.
