Safe Operation

1. General requirements for labor protection

1.1. General safety requirements are set out in the Instruction "General safety requirements for professions and types of work in furniture production".

1.2. Hazardous production factors: moving machines, mechanisms, moving parts of production equipment, moving products, workpieces, materials.

Sources of factors: rotating disc and tape knives, rotating drive pulleys, rotating rollers of the table carriage.

Action factors: possible contact of the hands of the worker with the cutting tool, contact with moving and rotating parts of the machine.

1.3. Personal protective equipment: cotton semi-overalls; cotton gloves; respirator type "Astra-2"; goggles.

2. Safety requirements before starting work

2.1. When working on a machine for cutting materials in length:

  • make sure that the circular knife is sharpened evenly and that there are no crumbled edges, cracks, bends, dents on it;
  • check the strength of the fastening of the disk knife; serviceability of the protective device along the entire length of the disk stroke;
  • monitor the strength of fastening and the integrity of the flexible conductor;
  • check the direction and uniformity of rotation of the disk knife, the operation of starting, braking and blocking devices.

2.2. When working on a machine for cutting material in thickness:

  • check the devices that prevent the band knife blade from falling in the direction of feeding the material being cut;
  • make sure that there is an automatically operating device for catching the band knife when it breaks; in the presence of a mobile device for guiding the blade of the tape knife;
  • monitor the uniformity of sharpening the band knife and the absence of crumbled edges, cracks, curvature and dents on it;
  • check the tension of the band knife;
  • check the presence and strength of the fastening of the fences: band knife in the material cutting area; belt knife blade tension pulleys, machine drive pulleys;
  • check the direction and uniformity of rotation of the band knife, the operation of starting, braking and blocking devices;
  • make sure that the pressure pads for feeding the material being cut are in good condition.

3. Safety requirements during work

3.1. Monitor the blade tension of the band knife and adjust it periodically.

3.2. Feed the foam plastic onto the band knife evenly, without jerks, pressing it tightly with pressure pads.

3.3. Do not adjust the foam while the cutting tool is running.

3.4. Do not stay in the plane of motion of the band knife.

4. Safety requirements in emergency situations

4.1. Turn off equipment.

4.2. Post a table about the malfunction of the machine or equipment and report this to the direct management.

4.3. In the event of a fire or extinguishing a flame, use a nearby fire extinguisher.

4.4. The victim or bystander must notify the appropriate work manager of each accident or poisoning.

4.5. The worker must be able to provide first aid. Such assistance is provided immediately, directly at the scene and in the following sequence: first you need to eliminate the energy source of injury (switch off the engine, stop the mechanism, remove the victim from under the car, a heavy object, etc.).

Assistance should begin with the most significant that threatens life or health (in case of severe bleeding, apply a tourniquet, and then bandage the wound; if a closed fracture is suspected, apply a splint; with open fractures, first bandage the wound and then apply a splint; in case of burns, apply a dry bandage ; in case of frostbite, gently rub the affected area using soft or fluffy tissues). If spinal injury is suspected, transport the victim only in the supine position on a rigid base.

4.6. After providing first aid, the victim should be sent to the nearest medical facility.

5. Safety requirements at the end of work

5.1. Turn off equipment. Wait for it to come to a complete stop. Tidy up the workplace: remove tools, fixtures; clean the machine from dirt and dust; wipe and lubricate the rubbing parts of the machine; neatly fold the finished parts and the remaining material.

5.2. Cleaning of wood waste (sawdust, shavings, dust) from the surface of the equipment, as well as from overalls, is carried out with a brush, sweep or using vacuum cleaners.

It is unacceptable to blow the machine and clothes with compressed air.

5.3. Rags used during work and when cleaning, put the rags in a special metal box with a closing lid and take it outside the workshop to a specially designated place.

5.4. Wash hands with warm water and soap.

5.5. Report all noticed shortcomings in the operation of the equipment to the shift worker or foreman.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Created plants that live in total darkness 30.05.2012

Scientists at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) have created plants that can grow without light, ie. in absolute darkness.

Sunlight not only provides plants with energy (photosynthesis), but also controls the growth process: the so-called photoreceptors activate the processes of germination, leaf development, bud formation and flowering. For the first time, scientists have been able to replace the light-absorbing component of photoreceptors with a chemically similar synthetic substance called 15Ea-phycocyanobilin. In a plant cell, this substance replaces the natural light-sensitive component of photoreceptors - phycocyanobilin.

Modified plants in the dark germinated and developed in the same way as ordinary ones. The introduction of 15Ea-phycocyanobilin activates photoreceptors, and the plant "thinks" that it is growing in the light. This makes it possible to grow a plant in complete darkness, although, of course, the question of photosynthesis remains open.

Synthetic photoreceptors could be a valuable tool for research because they make it easier to study many of the processes inside living plant cells compared to conventional genetic engineering methods. There is also a new opportunity to study natural photosynthesis, which scientists have long been trying to copy and apply in industry and energy.

In addition, synthetic replacement of photoreceptors can be useful in agriculture, for example, for fast and cheap seed germination, flower growing and biomass production.
