Full document Occupational Safety and Health / Standard instructions for labor protection Safe Operation 1. General requirements for labor protection 1.1. General safety requirements are set out in the Instruction "General safety requirements for professions and types of work in furniture production". 1.2. Hazardous production factors: moving machines and mechanisms, moving parts of production equipment, moving products, workpieces, materials. Sources of factors: rotating disc knife, rotating drive pulleys, rotating rollers for feeding material to be cut, machine shears, sewing machine needle. Effect of factors: possible contact of the hands of a sewing machine working with a circular knife, scissors and needles, contact with moving and rotating parts of the equipment, getting hands under the rotating rollers of a burlap cutting machine. 1.3. Personal protective equipment: cotton apron. 2. Safety requirements before starting work 2.1. Perform an external inspection of the 14-needle machine and make sure that the required number of needles is available. 2.2. Check the cutting device; sharpness of sharpening of a disk knife; the presence and serviceability of the fence of the entire length of the stroke of the knife; the strength of the rubber hose with the wire. 2.3. Check the machine for cutting burlap: the required sharpness of sharpening scissors; the presence and serviceability of the protective device for the feed rollers on the feed side. 3. Safety requirements during work 3.1. When cutting sacking in width, work only with a protective device. It is not allowed to adjust the burlap during the operation of the scissors. 3.2. In the manufacture of floorings, the initial filling of the wadded cloth under the pressure rollers should be carried out by a sewing machine mechanic. 3.3. Monitor the passage of the sewing material (cotton cloth) through the rollers, in case of tangling of the cloth on the needle holders and rollers, stop the machine and inform the master about it. 3.4. When cutting the batting, use a pressure ruler. 3.5. Do not adjust the cotton cloth while the machine is running. 4. Safety requirements in emergency situations 4.1. Turn off equipment. 4.2. Post a table about the malfunction of the machine or equipment and report this to the direct management. 4.3. In the event of a fire or extinguishing a flame, use a nearby fire extinguisher. 4.4. The victim or bystander must notify the appropriate work manager of each accident or poisoning. 4.5. The worker must be able to provide first aid. Such assistance is provided immediately, directly at the scene and in the following sequence: first you need to eliminate the energy source of injury (switch off the engine, stop the mechanism, remove the victim from under the car, a heavy object, etc.). Assistance should begin with the most significant that threatens life or health (in case of severe bleeding, apply a tourniquet, and then bandage the wound; if a closed fracture is suspected, apply a splint; with open fractures, first bandage the wound and then apply a splint; in case of burns, apply a dry bandage ; in case of frostbite, gently rub the affected area using soft or fluffy tissues). If spinal injury is suspected, transport the victim only in the supine position on a rigid base. 4.6. After providing first aid, the victim should be sent to the nearest medical facility. 5. Safety requirements at the end of work 5.1. Turn off equipment. Wait for it to come to a complete stop. Tidy up the workplace: remove tools, fixtures; clean the machine from dirt and dust; wipe and lubricate the rubbing parts of the machine; neatly fold the finished parts and the remaining material. 5.2. Cleaning of wood waste (sawdust, shavings, dust) from the surface of the equipment, as well as from overalls, is carried out with a brush, sweep or using vacuum cleaners. It is unacceptable to blow the machine and clothes with compressed air. 5.3. Rags used during work and when cleaning, put the rags in a special metal box with a closing lid and take it outside the workshop to a specially designated place. 5.4. Wash hands with warm water and soap. 5.5. Report all noticed shortcomings in the operation of the equipment to the shift worker or foreman.
