Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

NOR flash memory chips Microchip SST26WF080B and SST26WF040B 24.01.2015

The Microchip Technology portfolio has expanded with NOR flash memory chips equipped with a Serial Quad I/O (SQI) serial interface. The SST26WF080B and SST26WF040B models with 4 and 8 Mbit densities, respectively, use proprietary SuperFlash technology.

New microcircuits are designed for supply voltage from 1,65 to 1,95 V. According to the manufacturer, they have the minimum erasure time among similar products. A sector or block is erased in 18 ms, the entire chip is erased in 35 ms. For comparison: chips from other manufacturers need 5-15 s for complete erasure.

The SQI interface, operating at 104 MHz, provides high throughput with a small number of pins. It provides the ability to execute programs directly in flash memory (execute-in-place, XIP), without copying to RAM. In addition, the SQI interface at the instruction set level is fully backwards compatible with the popular SPI interface.

The chips have very low power consumption, making them suitable for battery-powered devices, including cell phones, headsets, navigation devices, and hearing aids. Typical current consumption in read mode when operating at maximum frequency is 15 mA, in idle mode - 10 μA, and in sleep mode it can be reduced to 1,8 μA.

Another advantage of SST26WF080B and SST26WF040B is reliability. The guaranteed number of erase-write cycles is 100, the information storage period is 000 years. The ICs are available in 100-pin WSON (8 x 6mm), SOIC, USON (5 x 2mm), and XFBGA (Z-Scale) packages starting at $3 for the SST0,57WF26B and $040 for the SST0,65WF26B in bulk quantities.
