3.3. When mounted on a test stand, the grinding wheels must be centered.

3.4. When testing an abrasive tool, the following rules should be followed:

  • when loading abrasive wheels weighing more than 14 kg, use improvised lifting equipment;
  • before testing, the vitrified bonded tool must be checked for the absence of cracks by tapping it in a suspended state with a wooden hammer weighing 200 - 300 g. A tool without cracks makes a clear sound when struck;
  • testing circles for mechanical strength should be carried out at the test speed specified in the flow sheet for the production of work;
  • the duration of the test (exposure) should be for circles with an outer diameter of up to 150 mm - 3 minutes, and for circles with an outer diameter of more than 150 mm - 5 minutes (it is allowed to test without exposure at a speed exceeding the operating peripheral speed by 65%: working with a circumferential speed up to 50 m/s, circles on a bakelite bond, working with a circumferential speed up to 60 m/s);
  • grinding wheels that have undergone any mechanical or chemical treatment, as well as wheels whose warranty period has expired, must be re-tested for mechanical strength;
  • the speed indicator of the test bench must be in good condition and calibrated;
  • testing of circles should be carried out with the door of the stand chamber closed, the chamber must be equipped with a lock that does not allow opening its doors during the rotation of the stand spindle;
  • the runout of the test stand spindle should not exceed 0,03 mm;
  • the direction of the thread at the end of the spindle must be opposite to the direction of rotation of the circle;
  • the dimensions of the circles subjected to simultaneous testing at the two ends of the shaft of the test stand shall be the same;
  • the outer diameter and width of the annular pressure surface at the flanges between which the circle is located during the test shall be the same. Gaskets made of cardboard or other elastic material with a thickness of 0,5 to 1 mm should be placed between the flanges and the circle.

3.5. When testing circles with a hole diameter greater than the diameter of the test stand spindle, it is allowed to use intermediate bushings with an outer diameter equal to the circle hole diameter. The height of the seating surface of the intermediate sleeve shall be at least half the height of the test lap.

3.6. It is allowed to simultaneously test several circles of the same size, separated from each other by intermediate flanges of the same diameter and with the same annular spring surface as the main flanges, as well as gaskets. If one or more test circles break, they must be replaced, and the surviving circles are re-tested.

3.7. Data on the testing of circles should be recorded in a book bound and sealed with a seal indicating the permissible operating peripheral speed indicated in the marking, the date and number of the test, the name of the tool manufacturer, the size and characteristics of the circle with the obligatory signature of the person responsible for the test.

3.8. On the non-working part of the circle that passed the test, it is necessary to make a mark with paint or stick a label indicating the test number, test date and a legible signature of the employee responsible for the test.

3.9. On wheels that have undergone mechanical or chemical treatment, as well as those that do not have a working circumferential speed marking after testing, it is necessary to apply a marking indicating the permissible working peripheral speed.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The brightest star 11.07.2004

An international team of astronomers has discovered the largest and brightest star at the other end of the Galaxy, which received the index LBV1806-20 in star catalogs.

This star, which is 45 thousand light years away, is 150 times more massive than our Sun, its diameter is 200 times greater, and its brightness is 40 million times greater than the sun. This blue giant is estimated to be very young, less than two million years old (the Sun is about five billion years old).

Despite the enormous brightness of the newly discovered star, it is almost invisible from the Earth: 90 percent of the light is absorbed by clouds of cosmic dust and a large distance, so that the apparent brightness corresponds to the eighth magnitude (stars no weaker than the fifth are visible to the naked eye).

The existence of such a giant does not fit into generally accepted astronomical theories: it was believed that there could be no stars more than 120 times the mass of the Sun.
