General requirements for labor protection 1.1. This instruction provides for the basic requirements for labor protection for operators of pumping stations of organizations. 1.2. The operator of pumping stations must perform his duties in accordance with the requirements of this instruction. 1.3. The driver of pumping stations may be exposed to toxic substances, elevated temperature, electric current, and vibration. 1.4. Persons at least 18 years of age who have passed a medical examination, theoretical and practical training, tested knowledge of labor safety requirements in the prescribed manner and received permission to work independently are allowed to work as a pumping station operator. 1.5. The driver of pumping stations is provided with overalls and safety shoes in accordance with applicable standards. 1.6. The driver of pumping stations needs to know and strictly comply with the requirements for labor protection, fire safety, and industrial sanitation. 1.7. The driver of pumping stations must be able to use primary fire extinguishing equipment, know their location and monitor their serviceability. Fire extinguishers and a box of dry sand must be placed at the pumping station. In the premises of pumping stations, it is necessary to use only serviceable tools made of non-sparking material. 1.8. Storage of lubricants at pumping stations is allowed in a specified place in quantities not exceeding the daily requirement. Lubricants must be stored in special metal or plastic containers with tightly closed lids. It is not allowed to store flammable liquids in the pumping station. 1.9. For local lighting or in the absence of electricity, the pumping station operator should use a portable rechargeable lamp in an explosion-proof design with a voltage of not more than 12 V, which is turned on and off outside the pumping station. It is not allowed to use open flame sources for lighting. 1.10. Smoking and eating is allowed only in places specially designated for this purpose. 2. Labor protection requirements before starting work 2.1. Put on the overalls and special footwear provided for by the relevant standards. Overalls must be buttoned up. 2.2. Familiarize yourself with the entries in the operation log of pumping units. 2.3. When accepting a shift, you should check the serviceability of process equipment, grounding, the availability and serviceability of fire fighting equipment, the availability of personal protective equipment, means of degassing spilled leaded gasoline, the operation of ventilation systems, and electrical equipment. All exposed and accessible moving parts of the pump set must be secured with fixed guards. 2.4. Turn on exhaust ventilation 30 minutes before starting the pumps, ventilate the pumping station room. Starting pumps with faulty or switched off ventilation is not allowed. 2.5. Before starting the pump, make an external inspection of it and the drive. In the event of a fire at the pumping station, turn off the electricity, close the valves on the input and output lines of the pumps, call the fire brigade, report the incident to the management of the enterprise, and take measures to extinguish the fire. 4.3. If any malfunction is detected that disrupts the normal operation of the pump, it must be stopped. Make an entry about all the shortcomings noticed in the operation log of pumping units, and notify the management of the enterprise (or shift supervisor). 4.4. In the event of a sudden power outage, disconnect the pump motors from the mains, and then close the valves on the suction and pressure pipelines of the pumps. 4.5. In case of an accident, it is necessary to provide the victim with first aid, if necessary, call an ambulance, inform your immediate supervisor and keep the situation at the workplace unchanged until the investigation, if it does not pose a threat to employees and does not lead to an accident. 5. Labor protection requirements at the end of work 5.1. Hand over duty to a shift driver with an entry in the operation log of pumping units about all the shortcomings, malfunctions, instructions, orders of the management. It is not allowed to leave the workplace before the arrival of the shift. In case of non-arrival of the shift driver, notify the management or the shift supervisor. 5.2.
