Not in the tooth with a foot

Proverbs and sayings
Proverbs and sayings

Phraseologism: Not in the tooth with your foot.

Meaning: To know absolutely nothing, not to understand, not to understand anything, absolutely not to understand anything (colloquial-simple, ironic).

Origin: There are several versions of the origin of this phraseological unit: 1) this turnover - the truncation of a more lengthy expression does not make any sense, which was used in the 19th century. The turnover dates back to the time of serfdom, and its original meaning corresponded to the spirit of the time: “if necessary, he can’t even give a denture”, later - “he’s good for nothing, he can’t do anything”, and then as a synonym for the expression not aza, 2) turnover not in the tooth to push out of school jargon. The variant neither in the tooth with the foot - a later formation, arose as a result of the convergence of two phraseological units neither in the tooth (push) + nor with the foot (where, where). The development of a phraseological unit with no foot where, where the meaning "not to be, not to engage and, therefore, not to know anything" became the basis for rapprochement with the phraseological unit to the teeth and led to the formation of a modern meaning, 3) the expression is actually Russian, from school slang. It has been used in Russian since the 19th century. Probably related to the fun of children - bringing the big toe to the mouth - and teasing those who could not do this.

Random phraseology:

Mug.

Meaning:

1. Face (usually very full, swollen with fat or disgusting in appearance, expression), erysipelas. 2. About who causes anger, indignation, disgust, freak, image.

Origin:

In ancient times, in Russia, masks were called kharyas, as an abbreviation for "Christmas mug", but this meaning appeared from the more common definition of Hari in dictionaries - as "disgusting face". It is often used as part of phraseological units - "make a face", meaning to grimace, and "put on a face", meaning "pretend to be someone".

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. Silicon Labs BGM111 Blue Gecko Module 20.08.2015

Targeting IoT device designers, Silicon Labs has introduced a fully integrated and certified Bluetooth Smart module. The BGM111 module opened the Blue Gecko family of modules built on the single-chip system of the same name.

Freeing developers from the hassle of designing hardware and writing embedded software, the BGM111 Blue Gecko module will accelerate the creation of a wide variety of devices, including smartphone accessories, activity monitors and other wearable electronics, automotive diagnostics, industrial sensors, and retail equipment.

Silicon Labs BGM111 modules come pre-installed with the Bluetooth LE stack, which complies with the Bluetooth 4.1 specification. In the future, it is possible to upgrade to Bluetooth 4.2 and newer versions. The presence of certification allows the use of modules in products for the North American, European and Asia-Pacific markets. The advantages of the BGM111 also include the presence of an SDK and support for the Bluegiga BGScript scripting language, which allows you to quickly create applications using Bluetooth that do not require a separate microcontroller.

The BGM111 configuration includes an ARM Cortex-M4 microcontroller, 256 KB Flash and 32 KB RAM. The module can be powered by a miniature 3V battery or two AAA batteries. In active mode, the microcontroller consumes 59 mA / MHz, and in sleep mode, the current consumption is reduced to 200 nA. The built-in Bluetooth Smart transceiver consumes up to 7,5 mA in receive mode and up to 8,2 mA in transmit mode.

The communication range is up to 200 m. The dimensions of the module are 12,9 x 15 x 2,2 mm. Introductory module samples and SLWSTK6101A development kits are already available. The manufacturer expects to start serial deliveries in the fourth quarter.

The BGM111 is priced at $4,97 per piece in a 10-piece lot. The SLWSTK000A kit costs $6101.
