Safe Operation

1. General requirements for labor protection

General labor protection requirements are set out in the instructions "General requirements for labor protection for workers engaged in logging and forestry work".

2. Labor protection requirements before starting work

2.1. Work on slopes must be carried out in accordance with the technological map, with preliminary preparation of the sites: removing dangerous trees, stones, filling holes, installing safety signs. Tractor drivers who do not have experience working on slopes must undergo training under the guidance of a foreman and an experienced worker.

2.2. Workers must familiarize themselves with the topography of the slopes, work technology, organizational and technical requirements, safe methods and techniques of work, established driveways and passages, and agree on sign signaling between two or more workers.

2.3. Work at dusk and at night, during thunderstorms, in rain, snowfall, thick fog (visibility less than 60 m), with wind speeds exceeding 8,5 m/s, as well as work on slopes exceeding those specified in the operating manual for a specific car is prohibited.

2.4. Before working with machines and equipment, you must ensure that their components and technical equipment are in good working order.

The following are subject to inspection: sound signal, lighting devices, devices showing the steepness of the slope, glazing, fastening of technological equipment, serviceability of rope equipment, fastening of safety fences.

2.5. Before starting the engine, the tractor driver must make sure that the gear shift and technological equipment drive levers are in the neutral position.

2.6. After starting the engine, it is necessary to idle test all mechanisms. If any malfunctions are found, if they cannot be eliminated on your own, you should report them to your immediate supervisor. Working on a faulty machine or equipment is not permitted.

2.7. Before starting the movement, the tractor driver must:

  • make sure that there are no foreign objects on the tracks, wheels and under the tractor (unit);
  • make sure that there are no people in the path of the machine, as well as near the technological equipment;
  • give a warning signal.

3. Labor protection requirements during work

3.1. The employee must perform only the work that is entrusted to him by his immediate supervisor.

Clearing and uprooting areas on slopes

3.2. When two or more machines are operating simultaneously in one area, the distance between them must be at least 60 m. Operation of machines on a slope on the same vertical is prohibited.

3.3. Workers on the cleared strip must be at least 20 m away from the operating machine. It is prohibited to be on the downhill side.

3.4. When uprooting stumps with a rope, the machine begins to move at the worker’s command smoothly, without jerking, in first gear. Workers should not be on the side of the tension rope at a distance less than its length.

During the process of tensioning the rope and when it is in a taut position, it is prohibited to cut roots, lay linings, or stand near a stump to hoist it or lift it with your hands.

3.5. It is necessary to remove objects that have fallen into the tracks of the machine or other parts of it, as well as to eliminate malfunctions only after stopping the machine.

3.6. It is not allowed to leave stumps, roots and other objects on the terrace surface and in the bulk soil.

3.7. While the vehicle is in motion, it is prohibited:

  • get out of the cab and sit in it;
  • stand on the frame or pushing elements;
  • stick your head out of the cockpit.

3.8. While the winch is operating, it is prohibited to make adjustments or straighten the rope by hand.

3.9. Cleaning and repair of technological attachments should be carried out only after lowering it to the ground or first securing it with stands.

Soil preparation

3.10. Soil preparation on slopes without gullies should be carried out horizontally using general-purpose wheeled tractors with a slope steepness of no more than 8°, general-purpose crawler tractors - no more than 12°, and special ones - in accordance with the technical documentation for a specific machine.

3.11. When two or more machines are working simultaneously on the same slope, the distance between them along the slope must be at least 60 m, and horizontally - at least 30 m. Working on a slope on the same vertical is not allowed.

3.12. If the tractor is forced to stop on a slope, it must be braked and the engine turned off.

3.13. It is not allowed to find people down the slope for its entire length.

3.14. When descending from slopes, it is necessary to take into account that smooth disengagement of the turning mechanism clutches without braking can cause a turn in the direction opposite to the desired one as a result of the tracks rolling up.

3.15. When pulling out a car stuck on a slope, it is necessary to use a rope, the length of which must be at least three times the length of the towed car.

Cutting terraces with terracers and bulldozers

3.16. When terracing slopes, it is necessary to arrange safe entrances to the terraces, transfers from terrace to terrace, and turning areas. The width of the track is taken such that when the vehicle moves in a straight line or turns, including the approach and turn areas, the tracks on each side do not come closer than 1 m to the edges of the embankment slope of the terrace cloth.

3.17. The machine cabin doors must be open during operation. It is prohibited for two or more people to be in the cabin.

3.18. When felling trees and cutting bushes found on the terrace, the movement of the machine should be smooth, without jerking.

3.19. When two or more vehicles are working simultaneously on the construction of a terrace, walking one after the other, the one in front must give a signal when turning, stopping and starting.

3.20. To overcome microrelief slopes that exceed the total permissible steepness of the slope for a terracer or bulldozer, you should cut off this microrelief with another machine that can work on slopes with large values, or use the additional traction force of a winch installed in the upland part of the site. In this case, the first pass along the route is made in the direction from the top to the bottom and is secured with a winch.

3.21. When driving on sharp bends, make sure that the blade does not touch the ground.

3.22. The movement of vehicles during idle crossings on ascents and descents should be carried out in first gear,

3.23. When constructing terraces on steep and heavily eroded slopes, before filling the gullies, it is necessary to install fences in the gullies to prevent soil from falling off.

3.24. Sharp turns of cars on filled gullies are not allowed.

3.25. The construction of terraces on rocky soils must be carried out using the method of reciprocating machine movements.

3.26. When cutting terraces, it is prohibited:

  • stand on or stand on the blade or frame while working;
  • when dumping soil down a slope, extend the blade beyond the edge of the slope;
  • work on wet clay soil;
  • drive off the bulk part of the soil with a piedmont caterpillar;
  • move large stumps and boulders outside the terrace;
  • cut several terraces on one slope at the same time;
  • use wheeled tractors for cutting terraces.

Rope terrace preparation

3.27. When organizing work on installing rope terraces, uneven microrelief (hillocks, protruding stones, etc.) should not exceed 0,2 m.

3.28. During a stop, it is not allowed to deepen the implement, and during operation this must be done smoothly.

3.29. When two or more machines are operating simultaneously on the same terrace, the distance between them must be at least 30 m.

3.30. When two or more machines are operating simultaneously on different terraces, the distance between them along the slope must be at least 60 m. The machines should not be located under each other, the horizontal distance between them must be at least 30 m.

planting a forest

3.31. Filling the machine with planting material should only be done when it is stopped. Long vehicle travel and distances for carrying seedlings should be avoided.

3.32. When two or more machines are operating simultaneously in one area, the distance between them must be at least 60 m along the slope and at least 30 m horizontally.

3.33. Cleaning the coulter and planting apparatus from dirt and logging residues is carried out with special scrapers after stopping the machine.

3.34. When moving to a new place of work, employees must leave the car and stay at least 10 m away from it.

3.35. It is forbidden:

  • place planting material outside specially designated places;
  • get up from the car, get off and sit down when the car is moving;
  • planters must be on the machine during deepening, excavation, during turns and idle travel;
  • work with faulty receiving tables.

Care of forest crops

3.36. The mechanism (cultivator, milling cutter, etc.) must be controlled from the tractor cabin.

3.37. When using chemicals to care for forest crops, it is necessary to use the requirements set out in the “Instructions for labor protection when carrying out silvicultural work in flat conditions”, as well as the “Sanitary rules for the storage, transportation and use of pesticides (pesticides) in agriculture”.

3.38. Cleaning, changing and adjusting working parts should be carried out only after measures have been taken to prevent spontaneous movement of the mechanism.

3.39. It is forbidden:

  • ride on technological equipment that does not have special workplaces;
  • get off and on the car while it is moving.

4. Labor protection requirements in emergency situations

4.1. Occupational safety requirements in emergency situations are set out in the “Instructions for occupational safety when carrying out silvicultural work in flat conditions.”

4.2. If there is a threat of rollover, all workers must immediately leave the machine, turn it off if possible, call the work manager and act according to his instructions.

5. Labor protection requirements at the end of work

5.1. The operator of the machine must:

  • bring technological equipment into transport position;
  • park the car in the designated parking area;
  • lower technological equipment on the ground or on stops;
  • slow down the car;
  • turn off the clutches, hydraulic pumps, stop the engine, disconnect the battery, close the door;

512 GB SSD from Samsung in BGA chip format 03.06.2016

Samsung Electronics, the second largest semiconductor manufacturer in terms of revenue and the current global leader in controllers and memory for SSDs, has begun mass production of a new 512GB Solid State Drive (SSD). Shipments to customers began in May 2016. A feature of the device is its size. It is only 20 x 16 mm, which is comparable to the dimensions of a postage stamp. This is the first such solution on the market. No one has ever offered SSDs of this size before, in a single BGA form factor.

The manufacturer noted that the new SSD will allow manufacturers of laptops and other mobile electronics to implement new ideas that were previously not possible due to restrictions on the amount of internal space of gadgets. By comparison, the 2,5-inch SSDs still found in laptops are 100 x 69,85mm. The more modern M.2 form factor offers dimensions of 80,15mm x 22,15mm.

The chip weighs only 1g, while the 2,5" drive weighs 66g and the M.2 form factor weighs 7g. Compared to a 2,5" drive, the new chip is 100 times smaller in volume .

The BGA package contains 16 memory chips with a capacity of 32 GB. Each of them has 48 layers of cells, this Samsung proprietary design is called V-NAND. In addition to memory chips, the case contains a controller and 512 MB of RAM (both components are designed to manage this drive).

Despite the size and weight, the performance of the new drive is comparable to the speed of SSDs in larger form factors: up to 1500 MB / s in sequential read mode and up to 900 MB / s in sequential write mode. High speed in sequential write mode is provided by TurboWrite technology. It uses some parts of the SSD memory as a write buffer.
