a) supervise the approach of a dump truck or a concrete mixer truck to a loading hopper or a receiving funnel;

b) after accepting the concrete, clean the dump truck body with a long-handled shovel;

c) clean the grate of the loading hopper from concrete and hang out the stencil "Do not unload concrete!".

17. Concrete should be loaded after the driver gives a warning signal and receives a return signal from the concrete worker.

18. In the event of a blockage in the concrete pipeline during the supply of the concrete mixture, it is necessary to pump the mixture from the pipeline into the receiving hopper by reversing the concrete pump engine. If this method is ineffective, the plug should be removed with compressed air.

19. Removing a plug in a concrete pipeline with compressed air is allowed provided:

a) the presence of a protective shield at the outlet of the concrete conduit;

b) finding workers at a distance of at least 10 m from the outlet of the concrete conduit;

c) air supply to the concrete pipeline evenly and non-intensively;

d) prevention of pressure in the pneumatic system of the concrete pipeline, the value of which exceeds the passport data.

20. If it is impossible to remove the plug, the driver should free the concrete conduit from the concrete mixture, by tapping find the location of the plug in the concrete conduit, disconnect the clogged link and replace it.

21. The concrete pump and the concrete pipeline should be flushed after the system is freed from the concrete mixture, filled with water from the water supply or tank and drained by reversing the concrete pump engine.

22. When relocating and installing a concrete pump to a new location, the driver must:

a) together with the work manager, make sure that there are no hazardous production factors at the installation site of the machine (buildings under construction, working machines and mechanisms, slopes of pits and trenches);

b) install the machine on a flat horizontal platform and secure it by placing it on outriggers and placing wheel chocks if the machine is on wheels, and level it with wedges if the machine is on skids;

c) install switching equipment (switch). The concrete pump must be connected to the mains by an electrician on duty. It is forbidden for the driver to independently connect the concrete pump to the mains and to the ground network;

d) drive in the rods of the inventory grounding device.

Drivers are not allowed to independently connect to the network and turn off the concrete pump, connect the protective earth and the communication or alarm system.

Safety requirements in emergency situations

23. If a concrete pump malfunction is detected during its operation, inspection or testing, work should be suspended until the malfunctions are eliminated.

After troubleshooting, a record should be made in the machine log about the faults and the completeness of their elimination.

24. When electrical voltage appears on the concrete pump body, turn off the main switch, hang a sign on it "Do not turn it on - people are working!" and immediately call the electrician on duty to eliminate the malfunction.

Safety requirements at the end of work

25. At the end of the work, the driver must:

a) turn off the power supply, reduce the pressure in the concrete pipeline to atmospheric pressure and turn off the water supply;

b) disconnect the head sections of the concrete pipeline, rinse the receiving and intermediate hoppers from the rubber hose;

c) clean (flush) the concrete conduit from the remnants of the concrete mixture;

d) inform the work manager and the person responsible for maintaining the installation in good condition about all the problems that have arisen during work.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Snails will eat England 02.12.2002

Biologist Claire Andrews from the University of Sussex (UK) discovered that Patella vulgata snails living on the chalk cliffs of Dover are gradually eating up the coast of England.

Clinging to the rock, they scrape off microscopic algae from it, which they feed on. However, along with the algae, the mollusks also scrape off some soft limestone. Three-year observations of snails have shown that up to 30 percent of coastal erosion can be attributed to these seemingly harmless creatures.

Note that the county of Sussex annually spends millions of pounds to combat coastal erosion.
