Safe Operation

1. General requirements for labor protection

1.1. Semi-automatic sewing machines for sewing on accessories and making bartacks automatically perform labor-intensive technological operations.

The use of semi-automatic sewing machines in technological processes can significantly increase labor productivity, improve the quality of processing, and reduce the fatigue of workers.

1.2. Machines for sewing on buttons, hooks, loops and overlays must be equipped with transparent shields (screens) that protect workers from injury from fragments of needles and buttons.

1.3. On button and bartack (for sewing on hooks and loops) machines, the bobbin must be closed with flaps.

1.4. Machines in which lubrication is done by hand, i.e. there are no centralized lubrication and sealing devices, they must be equipped with pans to collect used oil.

1.5. Dangerous places of a semi-automatic machine are:

  • needles and needle bar;
  • thread take-up;
  • clamping device;
  • foot;
  • flywheel;
  • belt drives.

2. Labor protection requirements before starting work

2.1. Make sure that the clothes are in good condition, fasten it with all buttons, remove the hair under the headdress.

2.2. Check your workplace, make sure it is adequately lit and not cluttered.

2.3. Check the reliability of the fastening of the ground wire of the electric motor and starting devices, the absence of bare wires.

2.4. Make sure that the idling semi-automatic device is in good condition, their starting devices, the operation and serviceability of the mechanisms for lifting the clamping apparatus.

2.5. Make sure that the fenced drive and the protective screen are in place and in good condition to prevent fragments of fittings and needles from getting into the eyes and face. Do not start work without first closing the drive part of the machine with a protective cover.

2.6. Before switching on the machine, make sure that no one is endangered by starting it.

3. Labor protection requirements during work

3.1. Threading, changing needles, installing buttons or other accessories should be done only with the electric motor turned off, removing your foot from the start pedal.

3.2. When threading fabric under the presser foot, do not keep your foot on the foot control.

3.3. Before pressing the pedal, lower the protective screen to the working position (button machine).

3.4. Do not put your fingers under the button holder while pressing the chuck lift pedal.

3.5. Sewing on buttons, hooks, etc. the product must be held with hands on both sides of the needle.

3.6. Do not touch moving parts while the semi-automatic machine is in motion.

3.7. Do not open or remove guards and safety devices while the semi-automatic machine is moving.

3.8. Tools (scissors, screwdriver, etc.) should be stored in a specially designated place.

3.9. Do not throw used and broken needles and buttons on the floor, but put them in a certain place.

3.10. Keep the workplace and aisles clean and tidy, do not clutter them up.

3.11. Cleaning of the moving parts of semi-automatic machines and the casing of the electric motor should be carried out with the electric motor turned off.

3.12. Do not leave the semi-automatic machine turned on unattended.

3.13. Monitor the condition and normal operation of the winder. When the winder is in operation, in order to avoid thread getting into the machine pulley and tangling in its belt, check the correct thread tension in the winder.

3.14. Remember that the wrong position of the hands during work can lead to piercing the fingers with a needle.

3.15. To avoid injury, start the machine by gently depressing the pedal.

3.16. To avoid catching hair and being hit by the thread take-up, do not lean too low on the machine.

3.17. In semi-automatic buttonhole and buttonhole machines, monitor the serviceability and presence of hazardous area fences. Follow the special rules for technological requirements, keep your hands in a safe position in relation to the working bodies of the machine.

3.18. When working on button machines, follow additional rules: monitor the quality of buttons in accordance with the established pattern (correct shape, size, no sagging, holes and symmetry of their location). Do not use defective buttons - hand them in for an exchange.

3.19. Make sure that the buttons are correctly positioned in the machine's button holder so that the buttonholes match the needle hole setting. To adjust a new type of button, call a repairman.

3.20. Ensure proper hand position, proper machine pulley guards, and eye protection.

4. Labor protection requirements in emergency situations

4.1. If you feel the action of an electric current on any part of the equipment, turn off the mechanism, inform the master, call an electrician.

4.2. Everyone is obliged to know the location of the general power switch of the workshop, the brigade, which everyone is obliged to turn off in an emergency and in the event of an electrical injury.

4.3. Be sure to turn off the electric motor in the following emergency cases:

  • in the event of a temporary interruption in the supply of electricity to the workshop;
  • in case of a faulty electric motor or electrical wiring at the workplace;
  • in case of malfunction or accident of electrical equipment in the workshop.

4.4. When saving the victim from the action of electric current, it is forbidden to touch the body of the victim. Use isolating means.

4.5. When burning electric wires, use sand, it is forbidden to use insulating materials to extinguish burning wires that are not disconnected - electric shock through a liquid jet is possible.

5. Labor protection requirements at the end of work

5.1. Turn off the machine's electric motor. Clean and oil the machine, get it ready for the next shift.

If the observed malfunctions are not eliminated, inform the foreman about this, who is obliged to report the malfunction to the next shift in writing - the shift transfer log or in the operational control log for labor protection.

5.2. Remove tools and accessories to the places provided for them.

5.3. Remove cleaning material and fold it, in order to avoid fire, in a closed metal container provided for this purpose.

5.4. Take personal hygiene measures.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Sunscreen for astronauts 03.08.2020

The development of means for protection against radiation is one of the most priority areas of research in the space industry.

By synthesizing a new form of melanin enriched with selenium, a team of American chemists has developed a biomaterial called selenomelanin that could protect human tissue from ultraviolet radiation.

During laboratory experiments, cells treated with such a "cream" showed normal life processes even after receiving a lethal dose of radiation. Tests have shown that the human body can produce selenomelanin on its own if the cells receive certain nutrients.

Melanin samples are currently on the International Space Station, where a research team is studying the material's response to radiation exposure. Recently, studies have been conducted with pheomelanin containing sulfur, however, according to scientists, the new substance is easier to synthesize.
