Safe Operation

General labor protection requirements

1. The installation of grinding wheels is entrusted to the repair personnel (locksmith) after reading this manual.

2. When grinding and grinding wheels are in operation, there is a danger of their breaking due to centrifugal force. Therefore, the existing legal provision provides that stones and circles that are put into operation again, in addition to an external examination for the absence of cracks, must be tested for 0,5 hours. In this case, the speed of rotation of the circle or stone should exceed the working one: for stones - by 50 rpm, for circles - by 75 rpm. Only circles and stones operating at a peripheral speed of not more than 6 m / s, as well as stones and circles with a diameter of not more than 100 mm, are not subject to mandatory testing. However, tested stones and circles also do not guarantee against rupture if:

  • storing them before installation on the machine was wrong;
  • their installation was carried out in violation of safety regulations;
  • they were operated in violation of safety regulations.

Occupational safety requirements before starting work

1. Circles should be stored in a dry, normally heated room and protected from accidental impacts.

2. When receiving a wheel or a stone in the tool pantry for installation on the machine, you should find out if they have been tested at the factory.

3. By external inspection and tapping, make sure that the circle does not have the following defects: shells, potholes and unburned places, and most importantly, cracks. A working circle makes a clear and ringing sound when tapped, a faulty one - a rattling and deaf sound.

4. Do not install the wheel on the machine, the number of spindle revolutions of which exceeds the allowable value indicated on the wheel label.

5. The hole diameter of the circle, as a rule, should exceed the diameter of the machine spindle, but not more than 0,3-1 mm, depending on the size of the circle. The purpose of this gap is to prevent overstressing of the wheel and the appearance of cracks when the spindle expands from heat.

6. Strengthening the circle on the spindle is allowed only by means of two side pressure plates, screwed together with nuts screwed onto the spindle.

The diameter of these discs must be at least half the diameter of the circle. Between each disc and wheel there must be an elastic pad (leather, cardboard, etc.).

The discs must have a recess and be in contact with the circle on an annular surface 1/16 of the circle diameter wide.

7. If the fixing planes of the disks have nicks or if their width is more than 1/16 of the diameter of the circle, then they must be replaced with new ones, since due to the uneven fit of the circle to the supporting surfaces of the disks, an uneven load and excessive stresses are created in its individual parts.

Occupational safety requirements during work

1. When installing a circle on the spindle of the machine, the rear disk is put on first, on which an elastic gasket is applied; then, it becomes a circle, followed by a second disc gasket, after which the circle is fixed with a nut and a lock nut.

2. When tightening the nuts, it is forbidden to use percussion techniques; it is necessary to use a wrench, which must be fastened only by hand.

3. The leading (rear) disk on the spindle is mounted motionless, and the clamping plane of the disk must be exactly at right angles to the spindle axis.

4, The direction of the screw thread on the ends of the spindle should be such that the nut is screwed in the opposite direction to the rotation of the circle.

5. The working surface of the circle must have a strictly circular rotation. For dressing grinding wheels, it is necessary to use diamonds or cutters. Dressing a wheel with a notch, chisel or similar tool is prohibited, as this dressing method promotes the formation of cracks.

6. After installing the wheel, it must be left idle for at least 5 minutes, and only after this check can the wheel be put into operation.

Labor protection requirements in emergency situations

1. If defects in equipment (grinding wheels) are found that pose a danger to the life of personnel and the integrity of the equipment, immediately stop work, turn off the electrical equipment if possible, and take measures to eliminate the accident.

2. In case of injury on a grinding machine, contact the first-aid post or call an ambulance, notify the master of the injury.

Occupational safety requirements at the end of work

1. Inform the responsible person about the work performed and report any malfunctions noticed.

2. Put in order the workplace and the machine.

3. At the end of work, remove and put away overalls, wash your hands with warm water, take a shower.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Playing music keeps your mind sharp as you age 05.02.2024

A study carried out at the University of Exeter found that older people who play music retain their cognitive abilities better than those who are not involved in music. Participants who played musical instruments performed better on tests of memory and executive function.

Researchers analyzed data from 1107 people over 40, finding that 89% had experience playing a musical instrument. 44% continued this hobby. Those who played instruments scored higher on tests of associative learning, independence, and working memory. The benefits in working memory were especially noticeable for those who played keyboards and brass instruments.

The best results in executive functions were demonstrated by musicians who played woodwind instruments. Also distinguished were those who played multiple instruments and continued to study music.

Interestingly, simply listening to music did not have the same effect on cognitive performance.

These results highlight the importance of musical creativity as a way to maintain mental function as people age. However, the precise mechanisms underlying this relationship require further research.
