For workers performing road works, such as paving, road construction, installation of curbstones, installation of precast concrete slabs, industry standard safety instructions have been developed for these works. The main body approving such instructions is the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation.

All road workers must have the appropriate training, skills and medical conditions to work in this profession.

Before admission to work Newly hired employees must pass:

  • mandatory preliminary (when applying for a job) and periodic (during employment) medical examinations (examinations) for recognition as fit for work in the manner established by the Ministry of Health of Russia;
  • training in safe methods and techniques for performing work, briefing on labor protection.

A feature of road works is the possibility of their impact on the human body. dangerous and harmful production factorsrelated to the nature of the work, namely:

  • moving cars;
  • increased dust content and gas contamination of the working area;
  • collapsing rocks;
  • increased level of vibration;
  • increased or decreased air temperature of the working area.

Therefore, when carrying out road work, to protect against mechanical impacts, road workers are required to use cotton suits provided by employers free of charge, signal vests, waterproof raincoats, leather boots, combined mittens, canvas knee pads (on wadding), suits with insulating padding and felt boots for the winter period.

Road workers must wear safety helmets on the construction site.

On the territory of the construction (production) site, in industrial and amenity premises, work sites and workplaces, road workers are required to comply with the internal labor regulations in force in this organization.

The admission of unauthorized persons, as well as employees in a state of intoxication, to these places is strictly prohibited.

When carrying out road works, workers must:

  • use in the process of work small-scale mechanization, machines and mechanisms for their intended purpose, in accordance with the instructions of manufacturers;
  • maintain order at workplaces, clean them of debris, snow, ice, prevent violations of the rules for storing materials and structures;
  • be careful during work and avoid violations of labor safety requirements.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

The glaciers of the Arctic are filled with life 04.06.2023

A new study has proven that the Arctic ice is not at all as lifeless as it might seem at first glance.

It may seem that the glaciers of the Arctic are completely devoid of life, but scientists assure that this is not at all the case. In fact, the ice and snow carpets in Greenland and Iceland are literally filled with microscopic life forms.

Moreover, like seasonal zombies, many of these organisms hibernate and wake up from a frosty sleep with the onset of summer and the melting of glaciers. According to a microbiologist at the University of Aarhus in Sweden, Alexander Anesio, even in a small pool of glacier meltwater, almost 4 different species can easily be awake.

The researchers note that for the most part, these microscopic organisms thrive on bacteria, algae, viruses, and microscopic fungi. In fact, they are a whole ecosystem, the existence of which the researchers knew nothing about for a long time.

That all changed when scientists studied ice and snow on two glaciers in mid-to-late summer, one in Iceland and the other in Greenland. Most of the bacteria discovered by scientists were active, others did not move or were dead. But what was interesting was that the scientists found that a day after being thawed, some of these “dormant microbes” revived and regained the ability to read genes and produce the building blocks of amino acids. The results of the study indicate that after three days of thawing in the laboratory, the samples contained 35% more active microbes.

The data obtained by the researchers suggest that the microbial communities in snow and ice can indeed quickly respond to melting. Adapting to climate change is generally considered very beneficial, Anesio said, but it also means that a sudden change in one organism can destabilize an entire ecosystem.
