I. General Provisions

The dentist belongs to the category of specialists.
A person who has a secondary medical education in the specialty "Dentistry" and (having; not having) (I, II, highest) qualification category (s) is appointed to the position of a dentist.
Appointment to the position of a dentist and dismissal from it is carried out by order of the head of the institution.
The dentist must know:

laws of Ukraine and other regulatory legal acts on health issues.
modern methods of diagnosis, treatment of diseases and lesions of the teeth, oral cavity and maxillofacial region.
Fundamentals of the organization of dental care.
modern equipment, tools and materials used in dentistry.
actions of personnel upon detection of a patient with signs of especially dangerous infections, AIDS.
resuscitation techniques, the basics of asepsis and antiseptics, the method of instrument sterilization, first aid methods for bleeding, collapse, anaphylactic shock.
legislation on labor and labor protection of Ukraine; internal labor regulations.
rules and norms of labor protection, safety measures, industrial sanitation and fire protection.

The dentist reports directly to _______.
During the absence of a dentist (vacation, illness, etc.), his duties are performed by a person appointed in the prescribed manner.

II. Official duties

Dentist:

Carries out diagnostics and treatment of diseases and lesions of the teeth, oral cavity and maxillofacial region.
Prepares dental equipment for work, monitors serviceability, correct operation, safety precautions.
Conducts instrumental examination of teeth and pathological periodontal pockets, soft and hard tissues of the maxillofacial region, determines the degree of tooth mobility, the intensity of inflammation of the oral mucosa.
Takes biomaterial for research.
Provides patient education on personal oral hygiene.
Carries out prevention, diagnosis and treatment of all types of caries and its complications, diseases of the temporomandibular joint.
Provides care for patients with injuries of the maxillofacial region.
Carries out prevention, diagnostics, provides first dental care in acute odontogenic inflammatory processes.
Conducts local and conduction anesthesia.
Performs surgical extraction of a tooth with limited inflammatory processes.
Takes prints. Receives diagnostic models and analyzes them. Conducts stage-by-stage observation, correction of prostheses and orthodontic appliances.
Prepares patients for physiotherapeutic procedures, conducts simple physiotherapy procedures, monitors the patient's condition during the procedure.
Provides infectious safety of patients and medical personnel, asepsis and antiseptics; fulfills the requirements of infection control in the dental department.
Receives, stores and uses medicines, dental materials, instruments.
Prepares medical documentation established by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
Ensures compliance with the requirements of labor protection, safety, occupational health, fire safety in the operation of premises, equipment and apparatus used in dental practice.
Complies with the moral and legal norms of professional communication, fulfills the requirements of labor discipline.
Carries out sanitary and educational work aimed at hygienic education of the population, promotion of a healthy lifestyle, and prevention of dental diseases.

III. Rights

The dentist has the right:

Obtain information necessary for the quality performance of functional duties.
Make proposals to the management on improving the quality of dental care for the population, improving the organization of work.
Give orders to the junior medical staff of the dental department, control the volume and quality of the work performed by them, monitor the work of the technician for the repair of equipment and equipment.
Take part in the work of meetings, conferences, sections, medical associations, where issues related to professional competence are considered.

IV. A responsibility

The dentist is responsible for:

For improper performance or non-performance of their official duties provided for by this Job Description - within the limits of the current labor legislation of Ukraine.
For offenses committed in the course of carrying out their activities - within the limits of the current administrative, criminal and civil legislation of Ukraine.
For errors in the conduct of therapeutic measures that entailed serious consequences for the patient - within the limits of the current administrative, criminal and civil legislation of Ukraine.

Revealed the secret of flickering lightning 01.05.2021

Researchers from the Brazilian National Institute for Space Research (INPE), in collaboration with colleagues from the US, UK and South Africa, have for the first time recorded the formation and branching of luminous structures during lightning strikes.

Scientists analyzed images captured by a super slow motion camera to find out why lightning strikes split into two and sometimes form glowing patterns that the human eye interprets as flickering.

Scientists used ultra-high-speed digital video cameras to record more than 200 upbursts during summer thunderstorms in São Paulo (Brazil) and Rapid City (South Dakota, USA) between 2008 and 2019.
The ascending flashes they recorded were caused by positively charged cloud-to-ground lightning discharges, which are much more common, as described by the same INPE research team in a previous study.

Upward lightning occurs at the top of a tower or from a lightning rod on a skyscraper, for example, when a storm's electric field is disturbed by a cloud discharge to the ground up to 60 km away. The advantage of recording images of ascending lightning is that they allow us to see the entire trajectory of these positive discharges from the ground to the cloud base.

At the tip of the positive leader discharge, a low-brightness discharge with a brush-like structure is sometimes formed. This discharge, often referred to as a corona brush, can change direction, splitting into two.

When an upward burst successfully forks, it may change direction to the left or right. When no branching occurs, the crown brush creates very short segments as bright as the leader itself.
