Every day of life opens up new opportunities for us and poses new challenges. The ability to adapt to a changing environment and regulate one's behavior in accordance with it is a requirement of modern life.

Stress - this is the reaction of the body to any impact, determined by many stress factors, or stressors, for example:

  • life changes (marriage, divorce, new job, holidays, etc.);
  • emotional conflict;
  • fear;
  • fatigue;
  • physical injury;
  • disease.

Any kind of change in life, even positive ones, forces us to adapt to new circumstances. The action of stressors is summarized and accumulated: the more of them in our life in a given period, the higher the level of stress will be.

Each of us has its own optimal level of stress, which is determined by hereditary and other factors. Some people know how to get out of situations that would quickly lead others to a state of exhaustion.

How do you know if you are stressed beyond your acceptable level?

Severe stress signals about itself with certain sensations. Not everyone, however, is able to understand these warning signs and associate them with the need to change something in life. If you are experiencing one or more of the following symptoms, your stress level is probably too high. Take care of yourself; Otherwise, you are at risk of serious health problems.

Signs of stress:

  • distraction of attention;
  • nervousness;
  • vague anxiety;
  • tearfulness;
  • fatigue;
  • yearning;
  • irritability;
  • feeling of helplessness, hopelessness;
  • headaches, insomnia;
  • violation of the menstrual cycle;
  • loss of sexual interest;
  • the appearance of phobias (fear of water, darkness, confined spaces);
  • nervous tic and twitching;
  • cold sweat;
  • loss of appetite, digestive problems;
  • increased use of alcohol and tobacco.

Some principles for dealing with stress

Learn to look at life in a new way. Achieve a degree of emotional well-being that will allow you to fully live every day of your life.

Be an optimist. Pessimism guarantees a high level of stress. The most useful technique: as soon as you catch yourself on a gloomy thought, switch to the thought of something good.

Don't hesitate to say "no". Anyone who takes on too much in this life is in danger of severe stress. Understand the limits of your capabilities and be firm.

Learn to enjoy life. Concentrate your attention and feelings on what you are doing, try to enjoy the process of work, how well you are doing it; do not concentrate on thoughts about what this work will give you in the future.

Don't focus on yourself. Learn to see yourself through the eyes of others. Help someone who needs your help.

Do not immerse yourself in melancholy memories.

Eat right (try to reduce your intake of sugar, salt, fats and increase the amount of vitamins, minerals and proteins).

Exercise regularly. Exercise is an excellent way to relieve stress, it has a positive effect not only on the physical condition, but also on the psyche. Try to lead an active lifestyle.

Get enough sleep. Sleep plays a very important role in coping with stress and maintaining health.

Don't drink alcohol. First, the state of intoxication and the exit from it serve as stress; secondly, in a state of intoxication, sometimes actions are committed that plunge a person into even more severe stress.

Do not abuse coffee, tea, chocolate: these products are powerful stress stimulants.

A New Way to Control and Manipulate Optical Signals 05.05.2024

The modern world of science and technology is developing rapidly, and every day new methods and technologies appear that open up new prospects for us in various fields. One such innovation is the development by German scientists of a new way to control optical signals, which could lead to significant progress in the field of photonics. Recent research has allowed German scientists to create a tunable waveplate inside a fused silica waveguide. This method, based on the use of a liquid crystal layer, allows one to effectively change the polarization of light passing through a waveguide. This technological breakthrough opens up new prospects for the development of compact and efficient photonic devices capable of processing large volumes of data. The electro-optical control of polarization provided by the new method could provide the basis for a new class of integrated photonic devices. This opens up great opportunities for ... >>

Primium Seneca keyboard 05.05.2024

Keyboards are an integral part of our daily computer work. However, one of the main problems that users face is noise, especially in the case of premium models. But with the new Seneca keyboard from Norbauer & Co, that may change. Seneca is not just a keyboard, it is the result of five years of development work to create the ideal device. Every aspect of this keyboard, from acoustic properties to mechanical characteristics, has been carefully considered and balanced. One of the key features of Seneca is its silent stabilizers, which solve the noise problem common to many keyboards. In addition, the keyboard supports various key widths, making it convenient for any user. Although Seneca is not yet available for purchase, it is scheduled for release in late summer. Norbauer & Co's Seneca represents new standards in keyboard design. Her ... >>

The world's tallest astronomical observatory opened 04.05.2024

Exploring space and its mysteries is a task that attracts the attention of astronomers from all over the world. In the fresh air of the high mountains, far from city light pollution, the stars and planets reveal their secrets with greater clarity. A new page is opening in the history of astronomy with the opening of the world's highest astronomical observatory - the Atacama Observatory of the University of Tokyo. The Atacama Observatory, located at an altitude of 5640 meters above sea level, opens up new opportunities for astronomers in the study of space. This site has become the highest location for a ground-based telescope, providing researchers with a unique tool for studying infrared waves in the Universe. Although the high altitude location provides clearer skies and less interference from the atmosphere, building an observatory on a high mountain poses enormous difficulties and challenges. However, despite the difficulties, the new observatory opens up broad research prospects for astronomers. ... >>

All the chemical ingredients of life found on Enceladus 25.12.2022

Phosphorus, a key component of DNA and RNA molecules, has been discovered in the ocean of Saturn's moon. It is now known that Enceladus has all the basic elements that make up biomolecules - everything necessary for the emergence of life.

Enceladus is one of the major moons of Saturn. Its surface is covered with a thick layer of ice, from the faults of which geysers are knocked out from time to time, indicating that there, at a depth, there is a fairly large ocean of liquid water. This makes Enceladus one of the most promising places to look for extraterrestrial life. This possibility is also indicated by the analysis of its water. Both methane and more complex organic molecules appear in it.

Over the years of research, compounds of hydrogen and oxygen, carbon, nitrogen and sulfur have been found in the geysers of Enceladus - almost all the ingredients that make up biomolecules. And recently, the last element was added to this list, phosphorus, which serves as a key component of nucleic acids. This was announced by Yasuhito Sekine, who spoke at a recent meeting of the American Geophysical Society (AGU) in Chicago.

Sekine and colleagues at the Tokyo Institute of Technology used data from the Cassini probe. Working in the Saturn system, the device collected information about the chemical composition of not only the planet and satellites, but also its brilliant rings. In this case, scientists were interested in the substances of the E ring, where the substance thrown out by the geysers of Enceladus falls. Among them were particles exceptionally rich in sodium phosphate.

Judging by their quantity, the subglacial ocean on the satellite can contain this substance in concentrations from one to 20 millimoles, which is orders of magnitude higher than in the Earth's oceans, where phosphorus is an element that is extremely scarce and in demand. The authors of the work suggest that on Enceladus it enters the water from the bottom, when apatites dissolve in it, which are found in abundance in some meteorites, which means that they were in the early solar system when the satellite was formed.

The find makes Enceladus an even more fascinating and promising place in terms of finding traces of extraterrestrial life. Perhaps this will speed up work on such projects, including the ESA mission, so far scheduled to launch only after 2035.
