Probably, everyone can name several multi-purpose universal machines that replaced several different types at once and combined their functions. For example, the same electric drill today is a grinder, a polisher, and even a mower drive.

Of course, it is difficult to call a "multi-purpose" shovel a machine, but it fits the definition of "mechanism" quite well. More broadly, one could say: "a mechanism for transplanting strawberry bushes, seedlings, harvesting root crops, pulling out weeds, etc."

Its main part is a lever plate with a pitchfork. It moves along the guide slots in the beds. Having reached the rotary window, the plate is rotated by 90°. This plate goes down under the force of a person's foot, also turns, and returns under the action of a spring.

The plate is made of a metal strip 3 mm thick. At one end, bars Ø 3-5 mm are welded so that they protrude by 15-18 cm; on the other, another plate is welded across, which serves as a foot rest. The total length of the lever plate with the forks is about 25-28 cm - it should not be much larger than the slots in the bed.

Multi-purpose shovel: 1 - bed, 2 - return spring, 3 - groove, 4 - forks, 5 - lever plate, 6 - support, 7 - axle, 8 - rotary window, 9 - thrust plate

In the upper part of the frame converge: welded or riveted and terminated with a horizontal handle. Their lower ends are bent and serve as a support during work. In those places where the slots pass, the beds must be strictly parallel.

The axis on which the lever plate moves is welded.

When working, the shovel is substituted for the selected bush, the foot presses on the stop plate, the forks gradually go into the ground, then, having reached the rotary window, they change direction, undermining and uprooting the bush.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Fabric with built-in heating 28.04.2002

The American company Maiden Mills presented a fabric equipped with a built-in heating system.

Polartec jackets and sheepskin coats made with it are quickly becoming popular with athletes and the military. Instead of traditional wires, stainless steel microfibers are woven into the fabric. These microfibers are thinner than a human hair. In terms of softness, they do not differ from ordinary threads and are not damaged during washing and wearing. Miracle jackets work in two modes: moderate, in which the fibers are able to heat up to a temperature of 42 ° C for 5 hours, and intensive, when clothes are heated to 2,5 ° C in 46 hours.

Maiden Mills plans to include heated gloves, air-conditioned clothing, as well as heart rate and body temperature indicators. The only problem at the moment is the fragility and bulkiness of lithium batteries used as batteries.
