Cooking pet food will go much faster with an electric grater. In five minutes, two buckets of chopped vegetable mass are obtained - a juicy additive to straw, hay and other dry food.

The design of the grater is extremely simple. The working container is a large metal tank - ready-made or home-made. Roll a cylinder d 1,5 mm and a height of 300 mm from a steel sheet 500 mm thick, bead or wrap the upper part with a rubber tube cut along. Attach the hinged lid. From below, weld a steel bottom from a sheet 4-5 mm thick to the cylinder. Drill five holes in it - the central one for the motor shaft and four for the mounting bolts.

I used a 1,1 kW three phase motor at 1400 rpm. Its flanged body turned out to be very convenient to attach to the bottom of the grater. The outlet hole in the tank is cut at the junction of the bottom and side wall. Above it, a box-shaped outlet tray is hung on hinges. Four inclined legs made of steel corners 20x20 mm and 150 mm longer than the motor size are welded to the bottom of the tank and to the support slide from sections of water pipes. The working knife of the grater is made of a round steel disk 2-3 mm thick. Its diameter should be 10 mm smaller than the inner diameter of the tank. Using a hacksaw or a cutting abrasive wheel, two opposite radial grooves 10 mm wide and 120 mm long are cut in the disk. The edges of each groove, opposite to the chosen direction of rotation, are bent up and sharpened with a file. Brushes for removing the crushed mass can be made by attaching a strip of thick rubber to a piece of corner. They are mounted on the underside of the working knife. On the motor shaft, the disk is fixed with a hub. The easiest way is to choose a pulley with a suitable keyway for this purpose and machine the hub out of it.

Connection of a disk with a nave - welded. So that the knife does not warp, the seam should not be continuous - it is enough to grab the parts at several points. Then, having stopped the motor shaft from turning, an axial hole is drilled in its output shank and an M8 thread is cut. To assemble the unit, a rubber ring gasket is put on the engine flange and the engine is docked to the tank with four bolts. The working disk assembly is put on the shaft from the inside of the tank (do not forget to install the key!). The parts are fixed with a bolt with a spring washer.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Corals push Japan's borders 11.12.2007

The rocky islets of Okinotori, lying 1700 kilometers south of Tokyo, allow Japan to retain a XNUMX-mile economic zone in the area.

Within 200 nautical miles from the extreme point of its land, any coastal country has the right to conduct economic activities. But rising ocean levels due to global warming may soon hide these patches of land under the waves, and then the entire area will become the possession of China.

To avoid such an unpleasant prospect, the Japanese recently "sowed" the shores of the Okinotori islands with coral larvae. When the corals grow, they form a reef that will remain in place of the islands, even if these rocks themselves sink.
