Modern kitchen furniture produced by the industry is designed for apartments with an improved layout, where the kitchen area is from 8 to 12 m2. In a small apartment with a kitchen of 5 m2, such headsets simply do not fit. Therefore, you have to furnish it from individual items or make furniture yourself.

We did the same: we picked up the main things separately, and did the sink ourselves. And since there is practically no space for cabinets and pantries in a small room, we decided to use the lower part of the sink for storing vegetables.

The entire structure is assembled from chipboard (chipboard) sheets pasted over with plastic, selected in accordance with the rest of the kitchen furniture.

First, we make the main frame. It consists of two sidewalls connected by a shelf and a partition. The latter serves as an element of rigidity of the entire structure, since the back wall, which reinforces all traditional structures, is absent in the sink. In one of the side walls, as well as in the shelf, it is necessary to cut out windows for sewer pipes (these openings are not shown in the drawings, their shape, size and location are selected locally). In the upper part of the sidewall, they are connected with a front board having a cutout along the lower part of the shell. A door is attached to the left sidewall on special furniture hinges.

Retractable box for vegetables: 1 - front wall, 2 - side wall, 3 - bottom, 4 - rear wall, 5 - wheel

At the bottom of the sink is a pull-out drawer for vegetables. Structurally, it is very simple, assembled from chipboard 15 mm thick. The side walls have holes for ventilation. The wheels located at the bottom of the box can be machined from wood, textolite, or you can use ready-made furniture produced by the industry.

Inner shelving

Modern kitchen sets produced by the industry are equipped with a sink, which is a cabinet with overall dimensions corresponding to the rest of the cabinets in the set, and a sink with water taps is embedded in its countertop. The interior space of this cabinet is almost free. Therefore, to store various household tools and appliances, I made a kind of rack inside the nightstand. It took a little material, but it is convenient to use. Another refinement option is also possible: instead of shelves, make drawers in which you can store tools and various little things needed in the household.

With built-in lid

The trash can is not the cleanest item in the kitchen. As a rule, they try to hide it in a closet under the sink. Sometimes a flat-sided bucket is used. It is convenient to place it on the door of the cabinet-sink. To avoid frequent contact with the bucket lid and not to remove it every time, it can be made self-closing. To do this, a shelf is installed inside the cabinet with two channels screwed to it from below - guides for the lid. The latter is curved from duralumin, plexiglass, vinyl plastic or other material that can be bent. The bent edges of the lid are a kind of retainers that do not allow the lid to move when opening or closing the cabinet door. The bucket is hung on the door so that its edge is located at the level of the lid installed in the guides.

Sink with built-in lid: 1 - bucket, 2 - door, 3 - shelf, 4 - rails, 5 - bucket lid.

Now, when the sink door is closed, the bucket will be under the lid, and when the door is opened, the lid will remain in the cabinet, held by the rear ledge by the guides.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

NXP Solar Mobile Phone Solution 27.11.2007

Hi-Tech Wealth (HTW) has selected the Nexperia Cellular System Solution 5110 from NXP Semiconductors for use in the world's first solar-powered mobile phone, the S116.

Designed by Laucent Technology, NXP's system solution delivers exceptionally low power consumption to optimize the solar charging process. As a result, the S116, which went into mass production in July this year, has achieved industry-leading standby and talk times.

The new solar-powered phone allows users to recharge the battery using any light source, even candlelight. This guarantees a longer standby time than any other phone on the market.

The combination of the functionality built into the Laucent design solution and the NXP Nexperia Cellular System Solution 5110 provides the SI 16 also with a wide range of multimedia applications and connectivity with minimal power consumption.
