Every thing in the house requires a certain place. Whether your library is replenished, whether the number of aquariums increases - in any case, you face the problem of placing them.

A rack of simple design will help to solve this problem. To make it, you will need six water pipes and five to six boards (sheets of plywood or chipboard) with a thickness of at least 20 mm.

simple shelving

It makes no sense to specify the exact length of the pipes and the dimensions of the shelves, since in each specific case their dimensions will be determined by the height of the ceiling, the purpose of the rack, and the size of the area intended for it.

At one end of each pipe, a thread is cut: it is necessary in order to burst with it between the floor and the ceiling of the rack rack. Rubber stops are put on the upper ends of the pipes - they can be bought at the pharmacy: these are the tips of the canes. A plumbing coupling with a piece of the same pipe screwed into it is screwed onto the lower (threaded) end. A rubber tip is also put on the latter.

In the prepared shelves, holes are drilled for the racks, and in the latter - holes Ø 5 mm for the shelf holders. That's all. All that remains is to assemble the rack and install it in place. To facilitate assembly, drill Ø 8 mm holes in the coupling and the stand. This will allow you to do without gas keys: just insert two rods of the appropriate diameter into the holes.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Energy from paper 30.10.2007

Scientists from the USA offer to print batteries on sheets of paper.

Scientists from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (USA) have created a battery that looks like a piece of black paper. In essence, this is a sheet of paper, since its base is made of cellulose fibers. On this basis, approximately by the same method as during the operation of the printer, electrodes were deposited - layers of carbon nanotubes. And the paper itself was moistened with an electrolyte, the so-called ionic liquid - molten salt. The ionic liquid does not contain a drop of water, it does not evaporate or freeze, so the battery can be used at temperatures from +150 to -70°C.

"This battery can be bent, folded, crushed, cut into pieces, and it will not lose its properties. Or you can put the sheets in a pile and get a very powerful battery. By the way, we made not only a battery, but also a capacitor capable of creating a high current density ", - says one of the participants in the work, Professor Robert Linhardt. - The components of the battery are connected to each other at the molecular level, this is a very smart paper. In addition, you can do without electrolyte at all - it will be replaced by blood, sweat or urine if such a battery becomes a power source for device implanted in the human body.
