Some people use homemade electric stoves and constantly repair them. This article reminds you how to solve the problem once and for all.

In [1], the author shared a simple method to significantly increase the reliability of electric heaters (HEs) by reducing their temperature. Moreover, the amount of heat generated by such spirals remained unchanged. But then a publication [2] appeared, where the author, agreeing that "... four identical EN can be turned on so that they will be equivalent to one in resistance, and hence in power ...", nevertheless expresses three opinions with which it is difficult to agree.

Firstly, "... The reliability of such a battery increases several times ...". Why only a few, and not an order of magnitude? Back in the early 80s. In the 2th century, the Dutch physical chemist Jacob Hendrik van't Hoff showed that the rate of most chemical reactions increases by a factor of 4–10 with every 3°C rise in temperature [4]. Already in [4], it was mathematically proven that the absolute temperature of a battery of 1,75 spirals will decrease by 4 times. In the example considered in [600], this decrease was XNUMX°C, which means that the reliability of the combined coil will increase not by several times, but by several orders of magnitude.

Secondly, the controversial thesis in [2] is the statement that "... in an electric stove, there will be little benefit from such an inclusion ...". Especially to test this opinion, I purchased four spirals and gave them a test. The spirals were included as shown in the picture.

On the heat density of electric heaters and their safety

They heated up more slowly, but quickly warmed up the stone of the electric stove and everything that was on it. Food cooked on such an electric stove was tastier: the fat did not burn out, the potatoes were well fried to a golden crust, and unleavened bread baked on a Teflon pan was of excellent quality. By the way, the villagers in their stoves deliberately push the heat to the infrared and even the invisible region of the spectrum - this is a folk experience. They try to cook food not in the flame, but in the heat, and bread is baked not in the heat, but in an empty oven after the complete unloading of all the fuel and its combustion products (ash).

Thirdly, the controversial thesis is the assertion that the cost of the combined spiral "...increases by 4 times ...". You can buy only two spirals with 4 times more power or one, the length and section of which is 2 times greater than the old one. You can also buy the cheapest coils of poor quality or bargain for a reasonable price. If you use EN long enough, then the enlarged coil will cost not more, but cheaper, since it will never have to be changed.

Why is such a simple idea not implemented? Yes, because love for one's neighbor is still weaker than love for money, and for a long time manufacturers will do everything so that we spend our money more often, and not save.

Traffic noise delays the growth of chicks 06.05.2024

The sounds that surround us in modern cities are becoming increasingly piercing. However, few people think about how this noise affects the animal world, especially such delicate creatures as chicks that have not yet hatched from their eggs. Recent research is shedding light on this issue, indicating serious consequences for their development and survival. Scientists have found that exposure of zebra diamondback chicks to traffic noise can cause serious disruption to their development. Experiments have shown that noise pollution can significantly delay their hatching, and those chicks that do emerge face a number of health-promoting problems. The researchers also found that the negative effects of noise pollution extend into the adult birds. Reduced chances of reproduction and decreased fertility indicate the long-term effects that traffic noise has on wildlife. The study results highlight the need ... >>

A New Way to Control and Manipulate Optical Signals 05.05.2024

The modern world of science and technology is developing rapidly, and every day new methods and technologies appear that open up new prospects for us in various fields. One such innovation is the development by German scientists of a new way to control optical signals, which could lead to significant progress in the field of photonics. Recent research has allowed German scientists to create a tunable waveplate inside a fused silica waveguide. This method, based on the use of a liquid crystal layer, allows one to effectively change the polarization of light passing through a waveguide. This technological breakthrough opens up new prospects for the development of compact and efficient photonic devices capable of processing large volumes of data. The electro-optical control of polarization provided by the new method could provide the basis for a new class of integrated photonic devices. This opens up great opportunities for ... >>

Helicopter with laser light 02.06.2011

In an experiment conducted in Seattle (USA), a miniature helicopter capable of lifting a payload of half a kilogram stayed in the air for 12 and a half hours, powered by a laser beam.

The flight could have continued longer, but the hangar in which the tests were carried out needed to be vacated for other purposes. The beam was aimed at a solar battery the size of an unfolded school notebook suspended from a helicopter. The battery turned the light into electricity that turned the rotors of the helicopter.

In principle, if the size of the battery and the power of the laser are increased several times, such a device can rise to a height of 20 kilometers and stay there indefinitely while the laser shines. It can serve, for example, to monitor areas of natural disasters.

Mini-helicopter "Pelican" with a remote control and a TV camera is mass-produced in Germany. It is usually powered by a battery that allows it to stay in the air for only 20 minutes.
