Why do we need a skeleton?

The skeleton has two main jobs - it supports our body in an upright position and protects the internal organs. The skeleton is a frame made up mostly of bones. At birth, a baby's skeleton contains about 270 bones, some of which are quite small. An adult usually has 206 bones because some of them fuse together. Mitsubishi Electric Corporation specialists have developed a new system called Safe and Secure Lighting, designed to improve road safety.

The idea is to inform pedestrians, cyclists and other motorists of the driver's intentions. To do this, it is proposed to use a special projection platform and displays mounted in the vehicle body.

As conceived by the researchers, the Safe and Secure Lighting complex with the help of projectors will form an image on the road surface informing about what kind of maneuver the driver intends to make. Additional information will be displayed on screens that can be installed around the perimeter of the machine.
