Why do warts appear?

Almost everyone you know has some kind of "special way" to get rid of warts. They will tell you a thousand incredible things and promise that warts will definitely disappear if you just follow their instructions exactly.

Due to the fact that warts tend to appear and disappear unexpectedly, many sincerely believe that there is some kind of magic involved. Even in the distant times of the Roman Empire, people had superstitious ideas about warts. The Roman Pliny wrote in his "Natural History": "On the first day of the full moon, you should touch the warts with peas, then wrap them in cloth and throw them behind you."

Many still believe that warts will appear if you touch a frog or toad, but this is not so. Warts are growths on the skin or mucous membranes. Many people have warts from birth, others first appear in childhood or later. Some of them disappear over time.

There is no complete scientific explanation for the cause of warts. We still don't know enough about them. Some physicians who have studied warts believe they are caused by a filterable virus. It's such a tiny germ that even the finest filter can't stop it. Others believe that warts appear from friction and irritation.

A wart that appears on the hands or fingers of an adult is usually caused by some kind of irritation, it can be mild, but often recurring. We ignore it because it is so light and the result is often a wart.

Often warts appear on the hands of people engaged in some specific work. For example, people who work in a slaughterhouse often develop warts on their wrists or knuckles. They are called "butcher's warts" and can be caused by tubercle bacilli.

People working with coal tar, oil or its products, x-rays often get warts. They often become malignant, that is, the wart becomes a cancerous tumor on the skin.

In no case should you try to remove warts with "home remedies": there is always a danger that they will result in a serious infection. Leave the wart alone or remove it correctly and to the end with a doctor. Whenever you decide to do something about a wart because someone has assured you that he has a "cure" for it, you risk turning it into a hotbed of a dangerous infection!

Random interesting fact from the Great Encyclopedia:

Why do elephants always walk on tiptoe?

From the outside, the elephant's foot appears to be a massive pillar with a flat sole. However, it can be said that in reality elephants walk on tiptoe like dogs or horses, since all the load falls on the front fingers. The heel of an elephant is highly raised, and the sole is essentially formed by a thick layer of fat.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

STM32CubeIDE - new universal development tool from ST 14.06.2019

STM32CubeIDE is the first integrated development environment from ST Microelectronics. It allows the developer who has chosen the STM32 microcontroller to pre-configure the project, configure the peripherals and microcontroller clock, generate initialization code and compile the code.

STM32CubeIDE also has an advanced set of debugging tools. This platform, based on Atollic TrueStudio for STM32 and STM32CubeMX, combines their strengths, combining the powerful functionality of the former and the convenient and practical utilities of the latter.

The integrated STM32CubeMX allows you to:

select the STM32 microcontroller,
configure clocking, peripherals or additional software,
create a project and generate initialization code.
STM32CubeIDE is based on ECLIPSE/CDT and includes support for ECLIPSE add-ons, GNU C/C++ compiler and GDB debugger
Additional debugging options include:
viewing registers of peripherals, core and memory,
real-time system analysis and tracking (SWV),
tools that allow you to analyze processor errors.
ST-LINK and J-Link supported
Project import from Atollic TrueSTUDIO and AC6 System Workbench STM32 is possible
Implemented cross-platform: Windows, Linux and macOS
STM32CubeIDE is a versatile workflow tool for beginners and professionals alike.
