Sleep-grass (backache open)

Small cups of sleep-grass resemble a fluffy snowy tulip. And the name dream came to her from antiquity. It blooms even if the air temperature is zero. The temperature inside the flower is +8 °C. It turns out that the calyx of a flower is a concave mirror that collects solar heat. A lot of legends, legends and beliefs are associated with this plant.

Sleep-grass is a legendary plant and is called "lumbago". Legend says that once it had wide, large leaves, so large that Satan, expelled from paradise, hid behind them. But the archangel Michael, throwing a thunderous arrow at the plant, drove Satan out of hiding. And the leaves of sleep-grass have remained shot through since then, which is why they are dissected into many thin slices.

Since then, it has narrow leaves, and evil spirits bypass the backache. An old herbalist instructed: "From those who carry this grass with them, the devil flees. Keep it in the house, and build mansions - put it at an angle, you will live harmoniously."

The name of the flower comes from the Latin word "pul zore", which means "to set in motion" or to call. Indeed, the flowers of the lumbago are like light purple bells, swaying under the gusts of wind. It seems that if you listen closely, they ring softly and resemble a melody about an ancient legend about this mysterious flower.

A young girl went to the spring forest to collect scillas. She went further and further, collecting the best flowers in a fragrant bouquet. And she went deeper and deeper, not knowing that it was the forest man (goblin) who looked after her and lures her into the bowels of the forest.

The forest sorcerer led the girl to a deaf clearing surrounded by huge pine trees, deep cliffs and a high rock, and on the side from which the girl came, dense thorny thickets suddenly grew, through which there was nothing to think of.

The girl stood in the middle of the clearing, looked around and was very frightened. Meanwhile, the forester, having turned into a handsome young man, came out from behind the trunk of an old pine tree and, standing in front of the girl, smiling, said:

- Do not be afraid of me, red girl. I won't harm you. Only one thing you must do: become mine, for in this forest I am the king and master, to whom everything is subject.

"Never in my life," the girl called out, looking for an escape route. But there was no road. She entered into a fight with the forester, who turned into a bony grandfather. This monster jumped up to the girl, grabbed her with his hands. Out of fear and disgust, she hit the woodsman with all her might. There was a crack, as if a dry branch had broken, and the ugly forest spirit released the girl, clutching her face with her hands. He fell to the ground and began to writhe.

In the meantime, the girl tried to run away, but she could not take a step: some unknown force kept her in place, as if catching her in a net of fatigue. This is the forest man, who has already risen to his feet again, let fatigue on the girl. Her arms dropped, her legs gave way, and she fell, in a wondrous dream. She, like a white cloud, was covered with the blueness of the spring sky, melted before our eyes, and soon completely disappeared. In the place where she lay, a beautiful purple flower broke out of the ground, exposing its velvet cup to the warm rays of the sun.

So the legend tells. That is why this flower is called sleep-grass. And that its fresh leaves are poisonous, this is from bitterness and disgust for the evil forest man. And the medicinal properties that dried leaves of sleep-grass are rich in are from a generous and kind girl's heart.

Sleep-grass (backache open)

All Slavic peoples retain poetic traditions about the sleepy kingdom, which are in the closest connection with the belief in sleep-grass. The villagers are convinced that sleep-grass has prophetic power: if you put it under the head of the head at night, it will show a person his fate in sleepy visions; they also think that anyone who falls asleep on this grass acquires the ability to predict the future in a dream.

In prophetic dreams, happiness is represented in a dream either by a young girl or a good fellow; trouble - a decrepit old woman with a hump behind her back, with a stick in her hand, with tufts of gray hair fluttering in the wind.

The tale of the sleeping or petrified kingdom expresses one idea: the winter sleep of nature and its spring awakening. One poetic Little Russian folk tale is known about sleep-grass and his evil stepmother - a story similar to the ancient Greek Homeric tale of Demeter. All flowers have a mother, only the dream-grass has an evil stepmother. It is this evil stepmother who annually drives the poor flower out of the ground in spring before other flowers appear.

Previously, sleep-grass was widely used in homeopathy, Tibetan, Siberian folk medicine. Her juice rubbed against rheumatism and aching joints. Bathed in the broth from a rash on the skin. They gave a decoction to women in labor to relieve labor pains and reduce pain. The Yakuts treated scabies with sleep grass: they put the greens in warm sour cream for three days, and then they smeared the body with it.

New method for creating powerful batteries 08.05.2024

With the development of technology and the expanding use of electronics, the issue of creating efficient and safe energy sources is becoming increasingly urgent. Researchers at the University of Queensland have unveiled a new approach to creating high-power zinc-based batteries that could change the landscape of the energy industry. One of the main problems with traditional water-based rechargeable batteries was their low voltage, which limited their use in modern devices. But thanks to a new method developed by scientists, this drawback has been successfully overcome. As part of their research, scientists turned to a special organic compound - catechol. It turned out to be an important component that can improve battery stability and increase its efficiency. This approach has led to a significant increase in the voltage of zinc-ion batteries, making them more competitive. According to scientists, such batteries have several advantages. They have b ... >>

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

The best time for sound sleep 01.09.2016

Specialists from the University of Cambridge conducted a study involving more than 4 volunteers and found out that sleep on the night from Tuesday to Wednesday is the strongest, and the positive effect of such sleep on health is the most significant.

As part of the study, experts analyzed the subjects' heart rate indicators. Their optimal parameters fell precisely on the middle of the week, which scientists described as "the most suitable period for sleep."

Analysts noted that during this period of the week, people tend to consume the least alcohol and fatty foods, which can affect the quality of sleep.

Sleep is of great importance in human life, performing several important functions, such as: provides rest for the body, promotes the processing and storage of information, facilitates the consolidation of the studied material, restores immunity by activating T-lymphocytes that fight colds and viral diseases.
