Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Teenagers don't listen to their parents 23.05.2022

Many, many parents are faced with the fact that their child, only yesterday still obedient, suddenly turns into a difficult teenager who is clearly not interested in what dad and mom say, who does everything differently than he is told, who behaves as as if he does not hear the elders at all.

Employees of Stanford University found out that everything is true: teenagers do not hear their elders in the truest sense of the word. True, it’s not that they don’t hear - it’s just that the parental voice ceases to be the main one among the voices of other people.

What does cease to be the main mean? In past work, scientists have explored how the child's brain perceives the mother's voice. It turned out that the voice of the mother includes a number of zones in the child's brain, ranging from purely auditory to those responsible for self-awareness and facial analysis. Moreover, the mother's voice activates all these zones more strongly than the voice of an unfamiliar woman.

These experiments were done with children from 7 to 12 years old; for new experiments, children from 7 to 16 years old were already invited - and it turned out that the sixteen-year-old brain reacts to the mother's voice differently than the seven-year-old brain. The areas responsible for attention and anticipation of rewards, as they grow older, begin to respond more strongly to unfamiliar voices; the corresponding changes begin somewhere between thirteen and fourteen years of age. That is, it cannot be said that a teenager stops hearing his mother at all, just that if there is an alternative, he will listen with great attention to another voice, not necessarily a comrade of the same age, but simply an outside adult.

It may be difficult for some to come to terms with this, but not a single parent in the world will be able to install in a child the entire amount of knowledge that will be needed in life - and the ability to live in society also belongs to such knowledge. A person will encounter many other people with whom one needs to somehow negotiate, whose words need to be analyzed, whose emotions and thoughts need to be somehow understood, and the sooner the brain learns these procedures, the better. To learn, you need educational material, which is why the family world opens up into the external environment, and the ear begins to catch what others say first of all, instead of the long-familiar intra-family conversations.

However, such a switch to the outside world must depend on many different factors, and one of the main factors here, of course, is the relationship between the child and the mother. And these relationships are obviously influenced by other relatives, and here it would be interesting to know if the perception of the father's voice or the voice of brothers, sisters, etc. is somehow changing.
