What is a concert?

A concerto is a piece of music for one instrument or a group of instruments, accompanied by orchestral accompaniment. The Italian word "concerto" literally means "consent", but once the Latin word "concerto" meant "competition", "competition". Indeed, a musical concert is like a competition in agreement: who will play better - a solo musical instrument or an orchestra? The concert is like a dialogue-competition between an instrument and an orchestra.

Many composers have worked in this genre. Mozart wrote 27 piano concertos, his concertos are one of the best pages in the work of this great composer. Beethoven wrote a concerto for three solo instruments at once - violin, piano and cello, accompanied by an orchestra.

Such concertos, where more than one instrument is the soloist, have come to be called "double" or "triple" concertos, depending on the number of soloists.

A concert is also often called a public performance of music of any genre, most often according to a pre-announced program. And the first such concert of public music-making for a fee took place in 1672 in London, where not only selected wealthy music lovers, but also many citizens could attend.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Gold changes the glow of silicon quantum dots 16.04.2018

An international team of scientists conducted a study and experimentally proved that gold changes the glow of silicon quantum dots.

At first, theoretically, experts convinced the public of this postulate, but then they moved from words to deeds. According to experts, silicon quantum dots can be successfully used in cell biology and the treatment of various ailments, as they penetrate into cells and luminesce. Engineers can create devices based on them that can detect the presence of the disease in patients at an early stage. As a result, mortality will decrease, as timely diagnosis will ensure the correct treatment.

Silicon crystals can be used in solar cells and make them much more efficient. In this case, people would not have to use dangerous components such as arsenic and lead in these devices. When gold interacts with silicon quantum dots, a polariton is formed and the optical properties of the latter change.

According to scientists, the precious metal allows you to control the absorption and emission spectra, and also creates the necessary electrode. Thanks to this, quantum dots can be successfully used in solar cells.
