You have probably done this fascinating business more than once - blowing soap bubbles. It's not just fun. On soap bubbles, scientists studied the structure and behavior of thin films, studied the forces of surface tension. The thin film of a soap bubble shimmering with all the colors of the rainbow was the subject of research and reflections of the great physicist Isaac Newton.

When blowing a soap bubble, the surface tension forces of the soap solution form the shape of a ball. The bubble film is very thin, and yet, despite this, it consists of three layers: two layers of soapy water, and between them a layer of almost pure water.

Any soap is suitable for blowing soap bubbles, but the strength of the bubbles depends on the content of various substances in the soap. The content of glycerin in soapy water has a particularly good effect on strength. It is recommended to take distilled water, you can use clean rain water, melted snow or water that forms when the refrigerator is defrosted.

Of the varieties of soap, a simple laundry soap gives the best result. A long straw is recommended as a tube, but you can take spent ballpoint pen refills, after cleaning them from the remnants of the paste, and other plastic thin tubes. The ends of the tubes need to be split a little. And to blow a bubble in a bubble, you need to use another tube, but with a whole end. Before piercing the first bubble, be sure to moisten the tube with soapy water. This is where the strength of the soap film is of particular importance.

In addition to blowing bubbles, it is interesting to observe soap films stretched over frames made of wire, on frames consisting of such frames. Frames can be made of wire in the form of various geometric shapes. They should be small so that they can be easily dipped into a cup of soapy water. First, the frame must be washed well with soap so that particles of fat do not remain on the wire. When you remove the frame from the soapy water, all of its frames are covered with a soapy film. Try to pierce one of the surfaces - and you will see that the film will take on a completely different look, but in such a way that its surface area will again be the smallest possible.

Soap bubbles

It is interesting to observe the soap film in the form of a screw. For this, a special frame is made. Around a piece of wire, another wire is arranged in a helical fashion. Its ends are fixed on the first wire that it wraps around. When lowering such a frame into soapy water, a beautiful helical film forms on it.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

AT2AD8 High-Performance 84-Channel, 004-Bit ADC 20.03.2004

ATMEL Corporation has released a new high-performance 2-channel 8-bit ADC AT84AD004, which is a parallel processing ADC that provides performance up to 500Msps per channel and up to 1 Gsps per channel (interleaving mode - frequency division multiplexing).

The ADC contains an input multiplexer, sample/hold units that provide dynamic performance with an input signal bandwidth of 1 GHz. The typical effective number of discharges is 7.3 at 500 Msps. The ADC contains a dual demultiplexer with 1:2 or 1:1 output selection, power consumption per channel is 700mW.

The AT84AD004 is pin-to-pin and functionally compatible with the AT84AD001 and, like its predecessor, the AT84AD001, includes a 3-wire interface for offset and gain auto-calibration, a Built-in Self Test (BIST) unit, and sampling delay adjustment in frequency division multiplexing mode. ADC inputs can be configured as differential or single input, outputs have LVDS levels.

The AT84AD004 is available in an LQFP144 package in industrial and commercial temperature ranges.
