What is a dispute?

A flowering plant reproduces by seeds. Plants that do not have flowers reproduce by spores. Spores are unicellular organisms. The spore is invisible to the eye and can only be seen under a microscope. Spores are in the air around us. So when food is left uncovered and mold forms on it, we know where it came from. Some types of spores that are in the air get on food and begin to grow.

Mushrooms, ferns and mosses reproduce by spores. Seaweeds also form spores. In the plant, spores develop in sporangia. In the fungus, the sporangia is located inside the hymenial plates under the mushroom cap. In mosses, spores develop in a capsule at the top of the stem. When the spores mature, they are sown. The wind carries them far. The spores of aquatic plants, such as algae, spread out in all directions. They have tiny tails called cilia. These spores are called zoospores and when they mature they quickly swim away from the plant.

After a short period of time, they stop and lose their tails. Then they begin to grow into new plants. Some spores reproduce by cell division. They develop in a growth inside the cell. These growths grow on the cell wall, and a new plant grows from them. Such reproduction is called asexual, since it does not require separation into male and female cells. Other spores have male and female cells. For a new plant to appear, the male and female cells must fuse and fertilize. In some plants, alternation of generations occurs: unisexual spores in one generation, and bisexual in the next.

Is it true that centipedes have XNUMX legs?

Have you ever turned over a flat stone or a rotten log, under which you could see small worm-like creatures quickly running away from the light? Most likely they were centipedes.

Naturally, there was no way for you to count all their legs to see if there really were hundreds. Some of these creatures have hundreds of legs, others even more. And some have only 30 legs.

Although it may seem surprising to us how this living creature can have so many legs, they are not as rare in nature as one might think. There is a whole group of insects that are called "thousands". Incidentally, centipedes are one of the oldest living creatures.

According to scientists, centipedes have existed for millions of years. While many people have difficulty walking on their two legs, centipedes manage their hundred legs without much difficulty. Their legs are arranged in pairs, and each pair grows from a segment of the centipede's body, which is flat and equipped with many articulations. In the next section of the centipede's head are two long antennae and two venomous hooks.

The venom of most centipedes is harmless to humans, but there are some species in the tropics, 20-25 centimeters long, whose bites can be dangerous. Such centipedes are known for being able to kill even small birds!

Millipedes reproduce by laying eggs in open areas. Some of them are born already with a full set of legs. Others are born with seven pairs, and the rest of the legs are added each time they change skin until they are fully grown. Centipedes come out at night to search for food, and during the day they hide under rocks or rotten trees.

Latest news of science and technology, new electronics:

The existence of an entropy rule for quantum entanglement has been proven 09.05.2024

Quantum mechanics continues to amaze us with its mysterious phenomena and unexpected discoveries. Recently, Bartosz Regula from the RIKEN Center for Quantum Computing and Ludovico Lamy from the University of Amsterdam presented a new discovery that concerns quantum entanglement and its relation to entropy. Quantum entanglement plays an important role in modern quantum information science and technology. However, the complexity of its structure makes understanding and managing it challenging. Regulus and Lamy's discovery shows that quantum entanglement follows an entropy rule similar to that for classical systems. This discovery opens new perspectives in the field of quantum information science and technology, deepening our understanding of quantum entanglement and its connection to thermodynamics. The results of the study indicate the possibility of reversibility of entanglement transformations, which could greatly simplify their use in various quantum technologies. Opening a new rule ... >>

Energy from space for Starship 08.05.2024

Producing solar energy in space is becoming more feasible with the advent of new technologies and the development of space programs. The head of the startup Virtus Solis shared his vision of using SpaceX's Starship to create orbital power plants capable of powering the Earth. Startup Virtus Solis has unveiled an ambitious project to create orbital power plants using SpaceX's Starship. This idea could significantly change the field of solar energy production, making it more accessible and cheaper. The core of the startup's plan is to reduce the cost of launching satellites into space using Starship. This technological breakthrough is expected to make solar energy production in space more competitive with traditional energy sources. Virtual Solis plans to build large photovoltaic panels in orbit, using Starship to deliver the necessary equipment. However, one of the key challenges ... >>

Sunscreens should be protected from chlorine 08.07.2017

Sunscreens protect the skin from sunburn: special substances in such creams absorb ultraviolet radiation, and avobenzone is one of the most popular absorbent substances.

Avobenzone absorbs ultraviolet in a wide range of wavelengths, and over time it began to be added not only to sunscreens, but also to lipsticks and other cosmetics.

By itself, avobenzone is harmless, but when interacting with other substances, it can decompose, and now the decay products can already give us big trouble. An international team of scientists found that in chlorinated water and under the action of sunlight, avobenzone is destroyed with the formation of two dozen organic compounds - aromatic acids, aldehydes, phenols and acetophenones.

The most toxic among them are phenols and chlorinated acetophenones (chloracetophenone and similar substances are included in tear mixtures used to disperse rallies).
