Where did peanuts originate?

Graves have been discovered in one part of Peru. When scientists unearthed these graves, they found a peanut, or peanut, there. He was already thousands of years old. In addition to the nut itself, there were dishes decorated with its image. Therefore, they decided that South America is the birthplace of peanuts. From there he went to Africa, and then to the USA.

More than 450 kg of peanuts are grown annually in the USA. The harvest from almost 000 hectares is fed to pigs.

Peanuts are one of the most useful plants that man has ever known. It is used in the absence of vegetables, as well as for the production of margarine, butter and in the manufacture of soap. It is also processed into glycerin. After the oil has been extracted from the nut mass, it is fed to pigs and livestock. Peanut butter, salted and roasted peanuts are sold by the kilo. The shell from it is used as a filler in linoleum, dynamite, paper. Cosmetic powder, gum substitute, dyes and inks are made without the indifference of peanuts.

Peanuts are in the same family as gorox and beans. The peanut plant is a shrub that blooms like a pea. After the petals fly around, the pod grows and burrows into the ground. When the pod grows, the seeds fall into the ground. Therefore, mature nuts must be collected from the ground. Peanuts are planted in late spring and harvested by machine before frost. When the pods are dry, the nuts are extracted from them by machines. From 35 to 50 hectoliters of peanuts are removed per hectare.

Random interesting fact from the Great Encyclopedia:

Where does wind come from?

The reasons for the appearance of wind can be considered in different ways. First, you can consider the wind in relation to your area and, secondly, in relation to the entire surface of the Earth.

In any area there is a pressure difference, so the wind blows in the area. If you live on the coast, you can watch it every day. During the day, the land heats up, the air above the land rises, and the cold wind from the sea takes its place. At night, the land cools down, but the water remains warm, the warm air above the water rises, and the breeze is already blowing from the shore, taking the place of the warm rising air.

What is happening in our area is happening to the wind and on a large scale on the globe. The equator is the warmest place on Earth. Therefore, in this band, warm air constantly rises. This air is directed towards the poles, north and south. Then, at certain latitudes, called "horse latitudes", it descends and continues its movement, but already in two directions - towards the poles and the equator.

If there was no rotation of the Earth, only north and south winds would exist. But due to the rotation of the Earth, all winds in the Northern Hemisphere shift to the right, in the Southern Hemisphere - to the left. Winds blowing from the "horse latitudes" towards the equator are called "trade winds", towards the poles - "wests".

Other parts of the globe also have their own "dominant winds". As you already understood, winds do not come from anywhere, the reason for their appearance is in varying degrees of heating of the Earth's surface in its different regions.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Memory 1000 times faster than flash 19.10.2015

SanDisk and Hewlett-Packard have agreed to jointly develop next-generation non-volatile storage technology that is 1 times faster and more durable than modern flash memory. In addition, the new technology is expected to offer significantly lower cost and power consumption and at the same time higher density than DRAM.

It is assumed that the new technology will allow equipping server nodes with tens of terabytes of capacity. Key applications for the new memory are expected to be in-memory databases, real-time analytics, transaction processing and high performance computing.

With the new technology, the partners intend to respond to the emergence of massive data flows generated by user interaction in social networks, vulnerability analysis, the growth of the number of mobile devices, the spread of cloud technologies and the development of the Internet of things.

The new memory will be developed based on existing partner technologies - SanDisk's ReRAM and HP's memristors. In addition, SanDisk provide expertise in mass production of memory chips.

In addition, it is expected that the joint work of SanDisk and HP on the new memory will help HP accelerate the development of The Machine project. The Machine is a new computer architecture that the company introduced in June 2014.
