How did mountains appear?

Because of their gigantic size, people thought that mountains were eternal and unchanging. But geologists, scientists who study mountains, can prove that mountains change and that they are not eternal.

Certain changes in the earth's surface have led to the emergence of mountains that are constantly being destroyed and changed. The slopes of the mountains are destroyed by freezing water, the soil and particles of rocky soil are washed out by rain and water flows. Over time, even the highest peaks turn into hills and plains.

According to the method of education, geologists divided the mountains into four types. However, the mountains were formed as a result of abrupt changes in the earth’s surface many millions of years ago.

Folded mountains are made up of layers of rocks compressed by enormous pressure into gigantic folds. In many places you can see layers of rocks curving like arches and concave lenses. This is the result of compression and pressure of the earth's surface. An example of such mountains are the Appalachians and the Alps.

For vaulted mountains characteristic rocks, raised up in the form of arches. Molten lava, rising under great pressure on the surface of the Earth, was able to lift these layers of rocks. An example of such mountains is the Black Hills in South Dakota in the United States.

The whole mountains arose as a result of faults or failures of the earth's crust. Vast areas of the earth's crust, entire mountain ranges, rose or fell in a short time. The Sierra Nevada mountain range, 740 km long and 150 km wide, located in California, USA, can serve as an example of these mountains.

Volcanic mountains are made up of lava, volcanic ash and cinders that have fallen to the surface of the Earth. Volcanoes are usually conical in shape with a large crater on top. The most famous volcanoes are Rainer, Shasta and Hood in the USA, Fujiyama in Japan, Vesuvius in Italy.

Many mountain systems have been formed by a combination of the above methods. In the Rocky Mountains (USA), you can observe mountain spurs that have arisen as a result of compression, faults and even erosion of lava!

Impossible engine successfully tested in space 21.12.2016

Chinese scientists managed to successfully test the fuel-free EmDrive engine, the principle of operation of which is still unknown. The apparatus was tested in detail directly on board the Tiangong-2 space laboratory. Now they are going to use it, in particular, on satellites of an orbital nature.

The researchers noted that since 2010, the Chinese government has been funding research on an engine that allegedly can be used to break the inviolable law of conservation of impulse frequencies.

Scientists have built several variations of the device in order to test it in zero gravity. The results of experiments that took into account the influence of various types of factors were able to confirm that EmDrive actually creates a small thrust coefficient.

EmDrive was able to develop a thrust equal to 1,2 millinewtons. The motor is a device that is designed from a magnetron and can generate microwaves by storing vibrational energy.

The unit looks like an overturned bucket. With this design, according to the engineers, it is possible to convert radiation into thrust.
