Shame on those who think badly about it

Edward II
Edward II

Phraseologism: Let him be ashamed who thinks badly of this.

Meaning: It is used as a warning to those who may misinterpret a good (harmless) act.

Origin: From Old French: Honny soit qui mal y pense. Attributed to the English king Edward II (1284-1327). who, according to legend, said this when, at a court ball, he picked up a garter dropped by the Countess of Salisbury, which caused a smile from one of the courtiers. There is a hypothesis that this incident led to the establishment of the Order of the Garter, whose motto was the above royal phrase. Another version of the origin of the order and the motto: on the battlefield of Crecy, King Edward II attached a banner torn by bullets to the staff with his own garter and uttered the above phrase. Subsequently, he established the Order of the Garter.

Random phraseology:

Make a good face on a bad game.

Meaning:

Try to hide your failures and troubles under external calmness.

Origin:

The expression - tracing paper from the French "faire bonne mine a mauvais jeu", goes back to the speech of gamblers who, having received bad cards, try to appear cheerful. "Mina" - "face", "game" here - "layout of cards".

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

GeForce GTX 760 iChill HerculeZ 3000 video card from Inno3D 19.07.2013

Inno3D has announced the next version of the graphics accelerator based on the GeForce GTX 760: the video card is called iChill HerculeZ 3000.

The novelty has several differences from the stock version. The GeForce GTX 760 reference products carry 2 MB of GDDR048 memory with a 5-bit interface. The base frequency of the chip core is 256 MHz, the frequency in the "turbo" mode is 980 MHz. The memory operates at a frequency of 1 MHz. The accelerator has 033 CUDA cores, 6 texture units (TMUs) and 008 rasterization units (ROPs).

The GeForce GTX 760 iChill HerculeZ 3000 accelerator received factory overclocking: the core frequency was increased to 1 MHz, the turbo frequency to 060 MHz. Memory, the volume of which has not changed, operates at a frequency of 1 MHz.
In addition, Inno3D has adopted the proprietary HerculeZ 3000 cooling system, which includes five heat pipes, a two-section aluminum heatsink, and three 80mm fans. The back surface of the printed circuit board is covered with a metal plate, which gives the structure additional rigidity.

The price of the GeForce GTX 760 iChill HerculeZ 3000 accelerator is about $300.
