BQ Hephestos 3 2D printer

30.06.2016

3D printers, if you do not take into account budget Chinese counterparts, are still very expensive in price, but this does not cease to be popular. However, there are affordable and high-quality devices in the 2D printing market segment, such as the Hephestos XNUMX from BQ, for example.

The new Hephestos 3 2D printer from the Spanish company BQ is built on the basis of the popular open (GPL license) prusa i3 3D printer belonging to the RepRap class (printers that are assembled from parts printed by the printer). Like many other printers in this class, this model comes unassembled, but a detailed assembly guide and video tutorials available on the Internet will allow even a beginner to assemble it in a few hours.

Unlike prusa i3, most parts of Hephestos 2 are made of metal, which adds rigidity to the structure and extends the service life. Compared to the original, the printer has a larger working area, a BQ-designed extruder, an inductive platform distance sensor, an updated user interface and electronics.

The print quality of the BQ Hephestos 2 is on par with more expensive models. The maximum resolution is 50 microns, the maximum print speed is up to 200 mm/s. Even complex objects are printed accurately, are very smooth, and therefore require only a little post-printing. The average price of the device is about $1000.

Traffic noise delays the growth of chicks 06.05.2024

The sounds that surround us in modern cities are becoming increasingly piercing. However, few people think about how this noise affects the animal world, especially such delicate creatures as chicks that have not yet hatched from their eggs. Recent research is shedding light on this issue, indicating serious consequences for their development and survival. Scientists have found that exposure of zebra diamondback chicks to traffic noise can cause serious disruption to their development. Experiments have shown that noise pollution can significantly delay their hatching, and those chicks that do emerge face a number of health-promoting problems. The researchers also found that the negative effects of noise pollution extend into the adult birds. Reduced chances of reproduction and decreased fertility indicate the long-term effects that traffic noise has on wildlife. The study results highlight the need ... >>

A New Way to Control and Manipulate Optical Signals 05.05.2024

The modern world of science and technology is developing rapidly, and every day new methods and technologies appear that open up new prospects for us in various fields. One such innovation is the development by German scientists of a new way to control optical signals, which could lead to significant progress in the field of photonics. Recent research has allowed German scientists to create a tunable waveplate inside a fused silica waveguide. This method, based on the use of a liquid crystal layer, allows one to effectively change the polarization of light passing through a waveguide. This technological breakthrough opens up new prospects for the development of compact and efficient photonic devices capable of processing large volumes of data. The electro-optical control of polarization provided by the new method could provide the basis for a new class of integrated photonic devices. This opens up great opportunities for ... >>

Primium Seneca keyboard 05.05.2024

Keyboards are an integral part of our daily computer work. However, one of the main problems that users face is noise, especially in the case of premium models. But with the new Seneca keyboard from Norbauer & Co, that may change. Seneca is not just a keyboard, it is the result of five years of development work to create the ideal device. Every aspect of this keyboard, from acoustic properties to mechanical characteristics, has been carefully considered and balanced. One of the key features of Seneca is its silent stabilizers, which solve the noise problem common to many keyboards. In addition, the keyboard supports various key widths, making it convenient for any user. Although Seneca is not yet available for purchase, it is scheduled for release in late summer. Norbauer & Co's Seneca represents new standards in keyboard design. Her ... >>

The world's tallest astronomical observatory opened 04.05.2024

Exploring space and its mysteries is a task that attracts the attention of astronomers from all over the world. In the fresh air of the high mountains, far from city light pollution, the stars and planets reveal their secrets with greater clarity. A new page is opening in the history of astronomy with the opening of the world's highest astronomical observatory - the Atacama Observatory of the University of Tokyo. The Atacama Observatory, located at an altitude of 5640 meters above sea level, opens up new opportunities for astronomers in the study of space. This site has become the highest location for a ground-based telescope, providing researchers with a unique tool for studying infrared waves in the Universe. Although the high altitude location provides clearer skies and less interference from the atmosphere, building an observatory on a high mountain poses enormous difficulties and challenges. However, despite the difficulties, the new observatory opens up broad research prospects for astronomers. ... >>

Caffeine promotes hair growth 20.05.2017

German scientists from the University of Jena conducted a study and found that caffeine stimulates hair growth. Experts noted that caffeine can also block the processes leading to hair loss in the type of male alopecia.

During the experiment, scientists took a biopsy of several hair follicles from men prone to early hair loss. After that, the biopsy specimens were placed in test tubes with a nutrient medium that contained different concentrations of caffeine. The experiment continued for 8 days.

At the end of the study, the scientists noticed that hair follicles that were placed in a solution with a sufficient concentration of caffeine grew 46% longer than those that did not. In addition, the life cycle of the follicle increased by about 37%.
