Phraseologism: What my left leg wants.

Meaning: The phrase is a symbol of the extreme degree of tyranny, "merchant" courage (iron.).

Origin: From the drama "Sin and trouble does not live on anyone" (1863) by Alexander Nikolayevich Ostrovsky (1823-1886). The words of the merchant Kuritsyn (act. 2, scene 1, scene 2): “It used to be between us, between acquaintances or relatives, after a dispute, it would become a matter of whose wife is more courteous. I take everyone to my house, sit on a bench, here so I’ll put my foot out and now I’m telling my wife: “What does my leg want?” And she understands, because she is trained in this, and, therefore, now it’s at my feet. The notorious "left leg" appeared later, as an enhancement of the image.
