What role did moira play in the life of gods and people?

In Greek mythology, moira are goddesses of fate. Dressed in white and always inseparable moira are three: Clotho, Lachesis and Atropos.

Clotho spins the thread of a person's life on a spindle. Lachesis, even before the birth of a person, appoints his lot (measures the thread spun by Clotho) and guides a person through all the vicissitudes of fate, carefully making sure that the thread of life does not break prematurely. Atropos, the youngest and most terrible of the moiras, cuts off the thread spun by Clotho and measured by Lachesis.

Some say that Zeus, who weighs human lives and informs the Moira about his decisions, can change his mind and save at will those whom Atropos has already set out to cut the thread of life, so people are to some extent able to manage their own destiny, avoiding dangers.

The young gods laughed at moira, and Apollo once even made them drunk to save his friend Admet from death. However, others argue that Zeus himself is also subject to Moira.

The wise moira helped people create the alphabet: they invented five vowels and two consonants.

Random interesting fact from the Great Encyclopedia:

Why didn't anyone rush to save the wife of the Thai king Rama V when she was drowning?

One of the wives of the Thai king Rama V, Sunandha Kumariratana, died at the age of 19 along with her little daughter due to the fact that the boat in which they sailed capsized. Despite the fact that many people witnessed the drowning, none of them rushed to help. The law was to blame for this, according to which it is forbidden for an ordinary person to touch the royal person under pain of death.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Single-chip controller for USB Type-C equipment 16.02.2015

The USB Type-C connector attracts manufacturers with its miniature size, the ability to transfer data over several protocols and supply power up to 100 watts. However, for its widespread implementation, appropriate controllers are needed. Cypress Semiconductor has announced the availability of evaluation samples of the industry's first integrated programmable USB port controller with USB Type-C connector.

The Cypress CCG1 controller is based on the PSoC 4 programmable single-chip systems architecture and the ARM Cortex-M0 core. It was the ability to program PSoC that allowed Cypress specialists to quickly complete the development, ahead of the competition. Meanwhile, observers estimate the size of the market for controllers with USB Type-C support at $65 million this year alone, and for 2019 they predict growth to $350 million.

The CCG1 integrates current and voltage monitoring circuits, which are critical when using the USB port as a power source. The manufacturer notes that the ability to update the firmware allows you to reprogram controllers at the stages of development, production and operation. This may come in handy to add support for future specifications that USB-IF will adopt.

Serial production of CYPD11XX CCG1 controllers should begin in March. Controllers are available in 40-pin QFN packages for laptops, 16-pin SOIC packages, and 28-pin SSOP packages for power adapters, as well as a 35-ball WLCSP for use in cables and mobile devices.
