Fall on good ground

Bible
Bible

Phraseologism: Fall on good ground.

Meaning: Find good, loyal followers of your business, meet attention, interest in it.

Origin: From the Bible. The gospel parable tells of a sower who threw his seeds, and they fell on different soil. Some - on the road, and birds pecked them, others - on stones, and the seedlings of these seeds quickly wilted, still others - on weeds, and their sprouts quickly died out in the bush of weeds. And only those seeds survived that fell on a favorable place for them. So, in the Gospel of Matthew (13:8) it is said: "Some fell on good ground and brought forth fruit: one a hundredfold, and another sixty, another thirty".

Gogol (1809-1852), the words of the bride Agafya Tikhonovna: "If Nikanor Ivanovich's lips were put to Ivan Kuzmich's nose, and take some kind of untied, which Baltazar Baltazarovich has, yes, perhaps, add to this the corpulence of Ivan Pavlovich - then I would have made up my mind at once. Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Smart headband MOOV HR 20.10.2016

Step tracking is no longer enough for fitness devices. Devices are now getting a means of estimating heart rate and intensity—unfortunately, wrist-worn electronics aren't very accurate. MOOV HR promises heart rate monitoring on a par with the electrocardiogram, the gold standard for assessing heart performance. This is achieved by measuring the pulse from the forehead of the user.

Older versions of the MOOV were worn around the ankle or wrist. In turn, MOOV HR involves the use of a sensor either in a headband (for most cases) or in a swimming cap. The device, unlike the Fitbit or Jawbone, works more as an AI-based coach than just a fitness tracker. The main feature is informing the user in real time about the progress of training. HR can show the user's heart rate in the app either as a beats per minute or as a continuous graph.

Most wearable devices measure the pulse using LEDs: the light is reflected from the skin, and by its change due to blood volume, the device captures heartbeats. Wristwatches are very comfortable, but studies show that the wrist is far from the best place to get accurate heart rate measurements. On the forehead, the skin is thinner, so the received signal is much cleaner and more accurate. High-quality readings can also be taken from the fingertips and ears, but in addition to accuracy, the device must also be comfortable.

The headband must also be more precise due to constant contact with the skin: on the wrist, the device can be attached relatively loosely, and move during hand movements and intense training. Any gap between the sensor and the skin (as well as movement of the bracelet) reduces the accuracy and reliability of the readings. In the case of a bandage, this problem disappears.

MOOV HR is priced at $60 as a smart headband or swimming cap. If the user wants to purchase both options, then they will have to pay $100.
