13-megapixel camera module for Samsung smartphones 10.10.2013

Samsung Electro-Mechanics has announced the development of a camera module for mobile devices featuring advanced optical image stabilization.

The novelty, equipped with a 13-megapixel matrix, is able to correct the angular deviation up to 1,5 degrees, while in most digital cameras available on the market, the correction does not exceed 0,7 degrees. That is, the developed module allows you to take better pictures in shaking conditions.

According to Samsung Electro-Mechanics, the product allows you to get 8 times better images in low light than previous camera modules.

Another advantage of the product is its low power consumption. The dimensions of the module are 10,5x10,5x5,9 mm.
It is expected that the novelty will find application in smartphones.

Mass production is scheduled for the first half of 2014.
