Focus Description:

Turning four cards chosen at random and placed on the table into cards of the same height as the card chosen by the spectator.

Focus secret:

For this trick you will need a forced deck consisting of one card in several copies. Let such a deck consist of jacks of spades.

Before the trick, you must fold an ordinary deck as follows: put any card on the bottom of the deck, and a jack on it, then again any card and a jack on top. So you must put four jacks and above each of them there must be any other card. Each card above the jack must be the same suit as it.

Now you can shuffle the cards, being careful not to touch the stacked eight cards. To the audience, you say, "I'm going to take the four cards from the bottom and put them on the table. Try to remember them."

After this, show the bottom card, then, bringing the deck into a horizontal position, move this card aside and take the next one (one of the jacks) and, without showing it, place it face down on the table.

Now you need to remove the card just shown, which lies below. To do this, you better shuffle the deck without disturbing the order of the bottom cards. But at the end of the shuffle you must put the bottom card you want to hide on top.

This technique allows you to reveal a new bottom card. Then you move the card back and take the next card (jack) instead.

Repeat the described procedure four times. Have someone repeat the names of the four cards on the table. While all the spectators' attention is focused on the cards on the table, you quickly change your deck to a forced one.

Now go up to the audience and ask someone to choose a card. Whatever the chosen card turns out to be, you promise the audience that there will be cards of the same size on the table.

With these words, you unfold the cards in front of the spectator, who cannot choose anything other than a jack, because you have a forced deck in your hands. The spectator chooses a card and you ask them to name it.

Having heard the spectator's answer, you say: “I command the cards on the table to turn into jacks. Please note that I do not even touch the cards with my hand. I only touch them with my magic wand.” You do this and ask someone in the audience to confirm the transformation.

If you do not have such a forced deck and cannot force well with a regular deck, then you need to prepare this second deck in advance by placing four jacks at the bottom (if you expect the spectator to draw a jack). Making a volt as you approach the spectators, carry these cards to the middle and offer the deck. It is quite simple to slip one of the four cards lying nearby.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Life in nature changes the way the body works 19.11.2015

Researchers have long noticed that living outdoors reduces the incidence of cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, diabetes, obesity, depression, and even cancer. But how it works, what exactly changes in the body is unclear.

Ming Kuo, a researcher at the University of Illinois, tried to figure this out. She studied many literature sources and found twenty-one possible reasons for improving health in nature. Moreover, only two of them had a common feature - the activation of the immune system.

"This means that the influence is complex: several factors act simultaneously, complementing each other," says Ming Kuo. But what provokes the action of factors? According to the author of the hypothesis, the reason is psychological. In nature, a city dweller feels relaxed, more secure than in a city where he constantly has to fight with his own kind and with circumstances. As a result, a different mode of operation of the body is switched on. In the city, all its resources are redirected to the fight, and there is no strength left for anything else. In nature, the body goes into the mode of rest and accumulation, resources are spent more economically.

Thus, no inhalation of phytoncides and visits to the solarium will replace a full-fledged country vacation.
